SCAMMERS everywhere, beware! Never again will I buy anything from the Chodam market. I picked a decent-looking durian, but the lady trader said, “No, no, not ripe,” and insisted her “ripe” ones were under the counter. She tried to push two durians on me when I asked for just one. I double-checked and asked, “Good durian?” — she replied, “Super good, brother!”

Then she turned her back to me to open it — very suspicious. Showed me one tiny decent-looking piece, then turned away again and packed the rest out of sight. Wrapped it up tightly in a bag and tied it with a strong knot — clearly didn’t want me to check.

When we opened it at home — absolute disaster. The durian was all messed up, pieces chopped off where rot was obviously cut away, brown fibers and slime in the flesh. Completely spoiled. She clearly trimmed off the rotten bits to hide the decay. The gloves she used were filthy too — disgusting.

Thank God we only ate a little — even that caused stomach problems. I’ll never go near that scammer again. They risk...

I would have given this a higher rating for it has many fruits and clothes in the market. Unfortunately, our experience is not so pleasant. We were trying to buy some fruits and talking to the vendors there, and one local lady starts to follow us and talk to all the local vendor before we can open our mouth and wherever we go to. Without knowing much, we thought that lady is being nice to translate to us. But it is not, she took advantage and raised the price for every vendor we trying to communicate with. For example, dragon fruit is only 28k per kilo and she asked the vendor and immediately told us 60k per kilo. It is very disappointing for her as a local trying to trick us like that. Will not go back to that market. Highly recommend whoever goes to market be aware those people following around and translate for you. The price across the bridge close to the hon chong area...
