We saw a lot of recommendations about this place in the expat groups, so we decided to give it a try—and it didn’t disappoint! The roasted duck was excellent—flavorful and crispy—comparable to what we’ve had in Chinatown back in the U.S. For me, this is exactly how roasted duck should taste, so I'm not quite sure why some other comments said this duck tasted better than Michelin restaurant....
We ordered the 2-person combo for 135k and a quarter of the roasted duck for 90k. That was more than enough to feed 3 adults and 2 kids. The price is so reasonable
The roasted chicken was also good, though I personally preferred the duck. The char siu and noodles were tasty as well. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the wonton soup—the broth was quite bland.
One downside was the kumquat tea. The 2-person combo supposedly comes with two teas, but we only got one tiny bottle in the to-go bag. When I asked, the staff explained that one bottle is meant to serve two cups... now I understand why others said the tea felt like a rip-off—one sip and...
Read moreExcellent food here. Visited twice on our 7-week trip to SE Asia. It's the only the place that wifie & I dined twice. The other was the Horizons Restaurant at the Crowne Plaza in Phu Quoc. The menu at Nhi Ky is simple & straightforward, WYSIWYG. Although due the restaurant's popularity, dishes made from beef & duck are out by 3-4pm. That happened both times for us on the beef dish. And we witnessed an order came in at 5pm for 10 whole roasted ducks that depleted their on-hand inventory. Talked to the lady-owner, and she said they roast/bbq the meats fresh as they sell. If you have a craving for roasted ducks/pork, show up by 3pm, at the latest. Or expect to wait 1.5-2hrs for the new batch. Nhi Ky's roasted meats were much better than a lot of those stands in Singapore's hawkers center that we also visited on this trip. When you're in Nha Trang, pay Nhi Ky a visit. Your tummy & wallet will thank you. ...
Read moreA basic eatery in an untouristy part of town behind Dam Market, this place is curiously popular with Russians—presumably expats. It bills itself as a Singaporean restaurant, but in reality, it specializes in smoked and roasted meats—think char siu or roasted duck. Prices are rock bottom: a full combo meal for two, including wonton soup, rice, noodles, a drink, and three kinds of meat, costs just 135k. They also offer homemade dumplings (60k for 10), but they’re not great—the dough is too thick and gelatinous. That said, I’d totally recommend it for their meat platters, which I doubt you’ll find cheaper at this quality anywhere else...
