Let's see who can guess it correctly, Comment the age 👇👇👇👇👇
Located in Tenerife, Spain, This is the oldest living dragon tree in the World. It has survived multiple volcanic erruptions and still stands strong. Can you guess it's age ?

The oldest dragon tree in Tenerife, the Drago Milenario, is located in the middle of Parque del Drago, a beautifully landscaped botanical garden in Icod de Los Vinos. If you’re arriving by car, the best place to park is in the Parking Del Drago garage, which is within walking distance of Parque del Drago. Tickets for Parque del Drago can also be purchased next to the parking garage, right along the walkway to the park.
To see the approximately 400-year-old Drago Milenario, it’s not strictly necessary to enter Parque del Drago – it can also be viewed from the Iglesia de San Agustín.
However, a visit to Parque del Drago is worthwhile, as there are many beautiful plants to admire and quiet spots to relax. The park also features a small accessible cave, which offers a pleasant change of scenery from the surrounding flora.
Together with the charming old town of Icod de Los Vinos, it makes for a rewarding excursion of 2–3 hours.

We arrived at 16:30 and there wasnt any place to buy a ticket as we thought that it was already closed although we searched it up and turns out to be that it closes at 18:00 as that was a bit disappointing. Despite the fact that we could not enter, we were not going to waste the oppurtunity of still enjoying the view as you could see the tree from a fair distance. Drago de Icod de los Vinos comes from the specimen of Dracaena Draca.L belonging to the family of asparagaceae. Not far away there is a another tree which is the same type as this one, called Drago de San Antonio ( 300 years old ) that is accesible whithout ticket, which you can also be able to stand next to, at a close distance. We went to see that one, which was really beautiful. From that viewpoint we were also able to see the mountains next to the sea and the sun slowly setting down. This place is definitely recommended especially when there is the sunset ! ☺️

I saved this location which doesn't really take you to the right spot if you want to see the drago tree. Follow signs to Drago Park where there is underground parking at a nominal price. Now, here's a tip - you don't have to buy a ticket to see the dragon tree, if that's all you're interested in. Because there's a perfect spot where the wall has actually been lowered so people can see the tree without going in. The park ticket itself is not expensive - just EURO pp. I don't regret going in, because that's where I feel we got the best picture of the trip - mount Tiede in full view amongst the clouds and surrounded by lush green trees and landscape. Totally worth it. The park is quite big, and one can spend a few hours if you follow all the paths. The cafe inside was really inviting, but we had to get to the cable which was booked for later. This little town of Icod de los Vinos was so quint I wish we could stay longer.

The Drago de Icod de Los Vinos, also called Millenary Drago, is a specimen of Dracaena draco canariensis or Drago de Canarias, located in the municipality from which it takes its name, north of the island of Tenerife. This ancient and huge plant species, is the symbol of the town and the island itself, declared a National Monument in 1917 and whose image was printed on the 1000 pesetas banknotes. There has been much talk, over the centuries, about the age of this majestic local species, getting to give it the nickname of "millenary" and dating its age in 3000 years. Recent studies indicate that more than a millenary is a centenary, and it is attributed a longevity of approximately 800 years. It is considered one of the oldest living beings in the world and is the largest and longest known of its kind.

>QUANTO ABBIAMO SPESO 1 SETTIMANA A TENERIFE<
Ciao ragazzi!

Very nice tour, 20E pp (buy tix online, a few days before....the tour is popular), 2.5hrs, a great deal.
Intro lecture, 10min van drive (high speed + big climbs + sharp turns =fun), 10min easy walk in the woods, lectures about pine trees that evolved to resist fires (true, thousands of black coated pines in Teide), lava (basaltic) we walk all over unaware, then hats on (and sanitary covers, naturally), lights on and down stairs we go. cave is fantastic. no worry about claustrophobia. high ceiling, spacious, no tight tunnels, helmut lights are bright and easy to operate (batteries work too!). the floor is super rough though, DEFINITELY wear thick-soled shoes (thick running shoes are ok). and do not fall, ouch, the lava rock is hard and pointy. easy 100m or so walk down there. 1min lights-out full dark is memorable, utter darkness (and quiet). a bit strange. humans are not bats.
suggestions? it's a fun tour, no silly jokes needed. why the tour of the grain crushing circle? after cave high point, we want to go for coffee. lots of educational highlights: spiders, laser mark sites, rocks stacked to support roof, obsidian vs lava, how tunnels form, progressive flows, 'rope' structures. no permanent lights underground (which would be cheaper) so nocturnal spiders can survive. good stuff. very memorable. (thanks Francisco!).

If you happen to arrive without prior reservation and tours are booked out for next few days, dont panic. You can still do part of the tour on your own, without the cave, but that is only 20 mins from the 2,5hr tour. First there is a good 30 min theory in the office, which you can listen to. Then 15 mins transfer by minibus to a starting place of the tour. Just follow the minibus with your car. Than there is a short walk through an interesting forest with lava stones , which takes about 45mins for the guided tour , when they arrive at cave entrance. They spend there 20, max 25 mins and dont go too far in the cave, mostly listening to guide and taking pictures. Then the bus takes them back to office. It would be possible to do the whole tour in 60-90mins or spend more time in cave. Obviously the cave itself is the main attraction, but you get a nice sense of the visit just by walking around on the surface too.
To find the cave, just head down from office and take 3rd right to Camino San Pablo. Keep going uphill to the right until you see a downward right heading paved street on Camino Sobrado to the parking lot. From there you follow on foot the path to the cave entrance. Hope it helps you to make something out of your day at Cueva also without getting on the tour. Good luck.

What a fantastic experience. This should be high on the list to visit whilst on the Island. Approx 2km of made safe for tourists underground lava tunnels to explore under the expert guidance of a tour guide. A Safety helmet with light is provided as there is no natural light once in the tunnels. What you get to see and walk through is what the lava flows have left behind on in this case level two of up to 3 levels of tunnels lava flows creates once they have hardened, as the lava levels also dropped following the eruptions in this area which historically lasted 10 months. You enter the tunnels via what is deemed a sky light downwards via metal steps. Most of the walk is on uneven hardened lava rock (so moderate difficulty as an activity for most) but at key points metal stairways have been erected for visitors safety and experience. The photographs attached do not really do the visit justice. Our tour guide was excellent with lots of historical and geological information given throughout the visit. Well worth the price and a few hours of your time whilst in Tenerife.

Mariposario del Drago Butterfly Park

Mariposario del Drago Butterfly Park

A beautiful small park with tropical butterflies flying freely among the visitors. Very nice staff, the girl in the garden explained everything to us, she even put a butterfly on my daughter's hand. She was very nice to the children, even to those who wanted to catch the butterflies at all costs. I don't understand parents who come into a butterfly house where these fragile creatures are flying freely, often sitting on the ground, and not paying attention to their children... There was an explanation about the butterfly life cycle, we also learned a lot from it, but I saw others who weren't even paying attention. We really enjoyed the visit and appreciated the fact that everything was explained to us thoroughly and all the children's questions were answered patiently and kindly. Downstairs we learned a lot of interesting facts about other butterflies and my daughter really enjoyed the documentary.
I would definitely recommend it, even with children, but I would advise parents not to leave their children unsupervised, lest they harm these beautiful but fragile creatures. I read the comments before the visit, some people said they only spent 10-30 minutes in the park and that they didn't like it, well we were in there for nearly two hours, we enjoyed it so much, learned a lot, my daughter didn't want to leave. She also loved the two parrots.

In the Mariposario del Drago, you'll get the inmersive experience of finding yourself surrounded by butterflies of several makes and sizes, from ground to the sky (within the confined limits of the zoo's glass walls and ceiling). Even better, you'll loose track of time in pursuing the perfect photo of that butterfly here and that one there, and the one that you'll surely see afterwards, while hoping for the one that will decide to land on you, to your own delight and the frustration of those surrounding you. Nice little zoo for all but, especially, one to visit if you have kids. You may find the price a bit steep, but shall forget it by the opportunity of entering a fairytale-like environment. Next door to the Millenary Dragon Tree (Drago Milenario), and some 100 metres from Banana House (Casa del Plátano), you'll find the Mariposario to be a worthwhile detour.

This is a wonderful place!
The staff is kind and well informing you about the basic rules before entering. Very nicely arranged and maintained interior, beautiful flowers and butterflies which you can observe in their pupa stage as well. If you are brave enough the staff can put a night butterfly on your hands to see them even closer. The absolute show stealers were the parrots in there, which was a very pleasant surprise as they are not mentioned on the website. There was a very-very friendly Cockatiel there who flies on the shoulders of men only, and we could even pet her. Strongly recommend this place!

Mariposario del Drago to uroczy park motyli na Teneryfie, położony w miejscowości Icod de los Vinos, tuż obok słynnego Drago Milenario – tysiącletniego drzewa smoczego. To miejsce to prawdziwa oaza spokoju i kolorów, w której odwiedzający mogą podziwiać dziesiątki gatunków egzotycznych motyli w ich naturalnym środowisku.
Wewnątrz parku panuje spokojna atmosfera, a tropikalna roślinność, oczka wodne i delikatne odgłosy natury tworzą idealne tło do relaksu i podziwiania tych niezwykłych stworzeń.

If you like Butterflies then you love Mariposario del Drago. One big Botanical House full with butterflies flying around and you right in the middle. If you wear something bright, preferably yellow or pink, then there is a good chance that a butterfly will land on you. The price is high with 8,50 for an adult but still worth it considering that you help to raise these magnificent creatures. Additionally the friendly personal explains everything about the Lifecycle of butterflies and moths.
