I’m afraid we had a poor experience in this restaurant and can say the only poor experience on Tenerife. The restaurant is tucked away from the main drag, something we look for and the food has good reviews. However, after being seated we were informed what was available on the menu (as opposed to what wasn’t) and the choice was rather poor. We decided to switch our plans to have a light lunch (but stay in the restaurant giving them the benefit of the doubt) however, the owner/waiter was displeased we seemed to only want a light lunch. We had the fried cheese which I can say was nice, however, it was brought to the table instantly meaning it was clearly sitting there already prepared for something/someone. On paying we were informed that ‘cards were not accepted’ as the owner pointed to an imaginary sign 🤨 meaning I had to run to a cash point as we’d run rather low (bad planning you may say but nevertheless in today’s world I believe it to be necessary to inform customers if cards are not accepted). After getting the cash, we handed it over…. Still the waiter had to then run down the road (somewhere) to get change for a 50… we waited. Finally, we resolved the bill and the owner/waiter proceeded to short change us and I’m sorry, but at this point tips were ‘off-the-table’ we argued to get our...
Read moreIt is a cosy restaurant, gets pretty full if you ca. Reserve better as it gets quite busy. Lovely village to walk around aswell. The food is traditional, it's average I think they need more help as there only 2 oriole running the place, especially in high season. As we waited very long for our food and to order. It was not there fault they were extremely busy so by the time we did get out food, it took forever and it's pretty average, there are specialities which I think are better to order.
The wine is from Tenerife, typical red wine here. The staff are very friendly, they do try very hard , however I do think they need more help. As the waiting is very long. What I suggest is either you go early or much later. However there are many restaurants around the area. We went here as the reviews were good, however it needs abit more attention. As my food was extremely dry. Perhaps we just came at the wrong time. Better to book of you can or go early. However as I said they definitely need more hands. Other than this, it's a cosy place.
Lovely village to walk around and also get great prices in the little shops around. Great views, really pretty when you walk around. Lovely to take photos here. I suggest you visit the village you will...
Read moreI came here specifically after seeing the owner stick up for themselves in the reviews and I’m so glad I did!
Ate here by myself tonight and I had a fantastic meal, served by David. He spoke awesome, fast, unrelenting Spanish against my weak Spanglish and I freaking loved it. Because he made no effort at English (and I can’t emphasize how much I really enjoyed the fact he didn’t), it forced me to work on my Spanish and I ended up having a really lovely evening of figuring out how to communicate what I wanted and enjoying the process.
And that’s not even the food! I had a soup, not sure which one because I asked David what his favorite was, and also the ribs and I tell ya….for what I paid, the fun I had, the delicious food I ate and the good conversation in a language that wasn’t my own? Heckkkkk yeaaaa, THIS is what I’m talking about. I canceled my reservation at Tizon to come here and I’m so glad I did.
If you can’t handle zero English, go somewhere else. If you’re a tourist like myself, but you want things exactly the way you like them, please…save us all, including the owner and the chef, and go elsewhere. If you want an adventure and a great meal served with a smile,...
