What I Ate in My First Week in Italy

A summary of my intense food adventures during the last week in Italy. Due to word limits, I’ll just cover the first three days in Rome for now. Overall, the flavors were great, and I ate very happily! Rome – Day 1 1️⃣ Breakfast: Had the famous milk bun (€2.5) and coffee granita (€4) at a trendy café. The cream in the bun wasn’t too sweet or heavy—delicious! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ☕ Café: La Casa del Caffè Tazza d'Oro 2️⃣ Lunch: Seafood pasta and risotto at a super popular spot (4.7 on Google with 8,000+ reviews). Around €10-15 per person. Both dishes were solid! ⭐⭐⭐ 🍜 Restaurant: Achille Al Pantheon di Habana 3️⃣ Snack: Tried tiramisu, supposedly the best in Italy (€5). Tasty, but too rich to finish alone (see P4). ⭐⭐⭐ 🍰 Shop: Pompi Tiramisù 4️⃣ Dinner: Chinese-style "roujiamo" (meat-stuffed bun, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Nothing beats Chinese food after all!) The outer layer was a crispy golden pastry, and the filling was packed with meat (choice of pork or beef—I went with pork, perfectly fatty and juicy!). ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌯 Restaurant: JiaMo Lab Rome – Day 2 1️⃣ Lunch: Ate at Old Chengdu near the Vatican. As someone from Sichuan/Chongqing, I’d say the flavors were decent—not mind-blowing, but still nice to have abroad. Around €20 per person. ⭐⭐⭐ 🥘 Restaurant: Ristorante Old Chengdu 2️⃣ Dinner: Amazing steak (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!) We ordered the Scottona Simmental—1kg shared among 5 people. So juicy and satisfying! ~€30 per person. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🥩 Restaurant: Ristorante Carnosa Roma Prati Rome – Day 3 Short on time, so we picked an Italian restaurant near the Colosseum. The pizza, tacos, and grilled lamb chops were okay, but nothing extraordinary. ~€20 per person. ⭐⭐⭐ 🍷 Restaurant: Royal Art Café #NoWorkJustEat #Foodie #Italy #TravelItaly #ItalianFood #Rome #RomeFood
