During our recent stay in Saranda, we had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant Hera throughout our visit. This turned out to be one of the best decisions we made during our trip. Hera proved to be a true gem among local eateries, offering an exceptional culinary experience that we will remember for a long time.
From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we felt incredibly welcome. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the decor tastefully done, which only enhanced our positive impressions.
What truly sets Hera apart, however, is the incredible passion of the head chef. It was evident that his work is more than just a job – it is his true passion. The chef frequently came to our table to talk about the dishes being served. Thanks to his stories, each dish gained meaning, allowing us to better understand and appreciate the richness of flavors and aromas offered.
The menu at Hera is diverse, featuring both traditional Albanian dishes and modern, creative compositions. Everything we had the pleasure of tasting was prepared with the highest quality ingredients and meticulous attention to detail. The flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation of the dishes was impeccable. We particularly remember the fresh seafood and perfectly seasoned meat dishes.
The service was impeccable – professional yet very warm. We felt taken care of at every step, which only heightened our satisfaction with our visits to the restaurant.
In summary, Restaurant Hera in Saranda is a place worth visiting. It is not just a place to eat delicious food, but also to experience true passion and dedication put into every dish served. If you ever find yourself in Saranda, be sure to book a table at Hera – we guarantee it will be an unforgettable...
Read moreService was great. Friendly engaging staff who manage to keep a smile on their faces despite being run off their feet during a busy night. Top marks here.
Had the vegetable soup and seafood linguine. Before coming to Albania, anecdotes suggested that the Albanians don’t generally season their food as heavily as other Balkan counterparts (eg Greeks and Italians). My experience with my first meal here supports this. Western taste buds will need to adjust or load up on salt to avoid disappointment. Other than that, the linguine was good - very fresh seafood, al dente pasta. Veg soup was ok - purée rather than the chunky style we sometimes get in the UK.
Atmosphere should be nice enough if you get the tables facing the beach. It’s a very popular place and tables go quick. Customers appear to be both locals and tourists ranging from families to groups of...
Read moreSo good we ate here twice. I have been to many restaurants all over the world, and as far as seafood goes this restaurant has some of the freshest and most delicious I’ve had in a long time. The waiter/owner cares a lot, and as opposed to a fair number of restaurants in Albania, he works hard to keep you happy. The food itself is all about the freshness of the seafood, and the chef knows how to cook it perfectly and let the flavors of the sea speak for itself. Between our two visits we had mussels (the freshest I’ve ever had from the very local Lake Butrint), an amazing fish soup, fabulous grilled shrimp and grilled squid, a nice seafood salad, and a simple but perfectly grilled sea bream fish, as well as a delicious and al dente seafood pasta. If you are in Sarande and want seafood I’m fairly sure you won’t find anything better - just try it...
