Grill House Berat — Restaurant in Berat Municipality

I was on a cycling tour around Albania, and made a stop in Berat. It was a hot day, around 40°C, and I needed some rest from climbing to the Berat Castle. I entered Grill House Berat, which had just lost electrical power so it was hellishly hot inside. Not only that, but becuse there was no power, their menu was reduced to only a few small items. So I had a large bowl of green salad and a bowl of what we call satarash (don't remember the Albanian name) i.e. the local version of it. It was absolutely delicious (I will post a picture). A few guys who were tending the restaurant at the time were fantastic, really friendly and helpful, and at least one of them spoke excellent English. The power was restored shortly before I was done, but, unfortunately, I had to continue my trip. WORST SEAFOOD!!!

Our mix seafood plate (prawns and calamari, were still frozen inside - like ice), and octopus carpaccio was made with cooked frozen octopus that tasted like it had been in the freezer for a decade.

Risotto wasn’t really risotto more of a congee. Very over cooked, lots of water in the bowl.

The stuffed eggplant was the only good dish at the restaurant.

The waiter was initially friendly and nice, but after we sent the octopus back, they didn’t really take us seriously.

Only one dish and two canned drinks were edible, and we paid 27.29€. They took off the octopus from the bill, but had to pay for other two dishes that were not edible. (We did inform the waiter before payment but was asked to pay for those dishes too). Turned out to be a very expensive eggplant starter.

We had to find another place for dinner afterwards. Will never return to this restaurant and would recommend people...

My wife and I are on vacation in Berat, Albania and were recommended to visit this wonderful fish restaurant, "Si n Det" and we have not seen such a variety of a menu like they had. We were treated like special guests and the food was outstanding. I am writing this review as I sit finishing my dinner. Unreal is the experience my wife and I had. Ask for Eno and he will take care of your every culinary need. The wine and beer list was extensive. A must when visiting...
