Recently checked out el hyl for the first time. I'm not much of a coffee shop person but when I do happen to go to one, I like it to be calm, and it wasn't the case here sadly :( I had to shout to be able to talk to my friend.
Another negative point was the fact that the place was definitely smaller than I had the impression it was from the pictures i saw of it. Some people had to switch places and others had to sit with us and it was a bit messy and uncomfortable tbh... i don't like being that close to people in public spaces... but I also think it's the people's fault and not the café's that it was so loud that afternoon. Everyone should talk quietly and be respectful of a public space like that but instead people were being so rude by shouting the entire time!
A super cool thing about it would be the little board games collection they have! We had SO much fun playing the "qui suis-je?" one!!
Everything else fom the food to the way we were welcomed and served to the very pretty space was more than decent! The prices are not bad as well.
All in all, I would say it's a GREAT place when NOT so crowded otherwise it'd be...
Read moreI discovered this little gem in Algiers through Instagram reels, and after visiting twice I couldnât be happier! đž The place has the coziest vibes, soft lighting, pastel tones, and a mix of rustic wooden tables with comfy chairs.
The décor feels thoughtfully curated, with cute details everywhere you look, vintage style lamps, and charming art on the walls.
Iâve tried their affogato, matcha, cappuccino, and fresh orange juice â everything was delicious and beautifully served. Their lemon cake was my favorite, but honestly all their cakes looked and tasted amazing. đđ°
One of the things I loved most is how welcoming the space feels. They have shelves of books and a selection of board games you can actually play while enjoying your drinks. We played âQui suis-je?â and laughed so much. it turned a simple coffee outing into a really fun experience.
The staff were so welcoming and charming, always greeting us with warm smiles that made the experience even more delightful.
Overall, itâs the perfect spot for a coffee date, studying, or just relaxing with friends.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy, cute café...
Read moreI regret to share two recent disappointing experiences at this coffee place:
The first incident was with the service, our group arrived, and the place was full. When we inquired about the wait time for a table, the waiter responded to my French-speaking friend with unnecessary arrogance, saying, 'Sir, this is not an exact science!' A simple 'I cannot tell' would have sufficed.
On the second occasion, we encountered the same rude service from the same waiters, but what made matters worse was the quality of the coffee. The espresso was incredibly acidic and bitter, making it undrinkable despite our request for the mild option. The Cortado, on the other hand, was overly milky.
To add to the disappointment, the toilet was out of service with no sign on the door or any indication. How can a coffee place run without toilet?! We had to leave because our little boy needed to use the facilities.
The one star here could go to the male waiter with blue eyes who...
