BAR-B'S RESTAURANT & BAR — Restaurant in Antigua

We had a terrible experience at this restaurant-food and service. It was low season and the restaurant was empty. The waitress explained the menu and that food is cooked fresh to order. The beers were lovely and cold, but the food was substandard. My son ordered the jerk chicken, it looked great, however it was still frozen inside. The waitress took it back and explained that the chef was too busy to come out to apologise as she was very busy prepping , and this explains why the chicken was not microwaved properly. This is of course after we had been told that everything is cooked fresh to order. We asked to chat to the manager but the waitress said she was busy prepping with the chef (not sure why all the prepping as we were the only ones there). We paid the full bill and asked again to chat to the manager, this is when the waitress became aggressive, saying that the manager was not going to speak to us, neither will the chef and that she needs to keep her job, so she's not getting involved. We were made to feel like we were wrong for noticing that the chicken was frozen inside. If you advertise that it's freshly cooked then you should do just that. If something goes wrong, which sometimes happens, be professional and speak to your customers. It's...

Food is okay, nothing special. Stayed in the hotel right by this place and went there a couple times. Had to deal with a rude, obnoxious, dismissive member of staff who actively ignored me when I had issues with my order. He continued to be rude throughout our time there whilst being bubbly and happy with others in the restaurant including his co workers. The manager was hesitant to accept a complaint and then couldn’t really care less when we did complain. Obviously this place is on a Marina, so it seems there is a particular attitude towards those they deem to be not as high standing. The mood was completely soured and unfortunately we had to give as good as we got. The restaurant upstairs is better food and service wise. We’ve been visiting the Caribbean 40 years amongst us and we will never be coming back to this place. Oh and we were forced to pay a mandatory service charge....

On a normal basis, I'd give a higher star, but TODAY, the customer service was outrageous. The bar staff writes the order in his hand, really in this age. The waiting staff communication was bad but I can understand because the owner was none the better. Very abrupt and dismissive. When you work hard and expect to get service and you are treated as if you are bothering ppl , it's really sad. Customer service skills need to be improved No apology or concerns by them.
