Terrible Service, Racist & Unwelcoming Atmosphere

Me and my boyfriend were visiting from Los Angeles, we were really looking forward to enjoying a night of live music, but unfortunately, the experience was ruined by the unprofessional and outright rude behavior of the bartender and the manager. I arrived first, and when my boyfriend arrived later and asked for me so I could show the tickets, the person in charge at the door refused to let him in. Even worse, he physically pushed him away from the entrance instead of handling the situation professionally.

When the door situation was finally sorted and the show was about to start, we were met with hostility instead of hospitality. The service was painfully slow, and when we finally got our drinks, we had to return it due to its poor quality, to make matters worse when we were returning the drink we were met with dismissive and condescending responses, reason why we decided to leave the place as soon as the show started.

Despite this, the bartender chased us to the door, requesting for us to pay for the drink—even though I never even drank it!- and asking us in a really rude way if we didn’t like the drink or what, the tone was really combative, treating us with disrespect. It was seriously humiliating and completely uncalled for. What’s worse, there were clear signs of discrimination in how some guests were treated versus others. It was uncomfortable and unacceptable.

A jazz club should be a welcoming place with a smooth vibe, but this place fails miserably. If you care about good service and respect, avoid this place and plan your...

Great musicians and very good sound system! The place has an ok ambiance and the doorkeeper is lovely and very friendly. Those are about the only nice things I have to say.

The bar is an absolute dissapointment. When we bought the tickets we booked a table which we did not get once inside. The menu is a let down and it offers very few cocktails. We ordered fried calamary (nothing special) a cheddar burguer that never arrived and 2 meat empanadas that had no flavour whatsoever. We asked for salt and also never got it.

We stayed to watch the second show. This time the burger made it to our table: the meat was cold and the bread was stale. The chips where fine. The fernet was inexplicably untasty. The waiter never came back to our table so we bever got a chance to order anything else. He took about 30 minutes to bring back he credit card once we payed.

The general organisation of the staff was very very bad. People had to wait 30 minutes to get seated while the service was chating and refusing to take them to their seats. It was so ridiculous the show started and many guests where still waiting to be taken to their seats.

Also.... what is going on with the kitchen vent? The place reaked...

First off I absolutely love this little club. It's a wonderful intimate experience in a cool little setting. The music was divine and the ambience fantastic. It's a place I reluctantly want to return to. Why reluctantly? Because I ate a crudo sandwich here that gave me food poisoning! Within an hour of leaving my stomach was in knots and I felt the need to puke. Prior to that I had only eaten breakfast at home in the morning and felt fine the entire day (this was the evening show). It took two hours of puking and getting everything out of my stomach to feel better. My wife who had also eaten the same breakfast and had the raviolis there felt fine so it was definitely the sandwich. The cook needs to take better care about cross contamination and the quality of the ingredients he uses. No one wants to spend a lot of money for an enjoyable evening only to have it ruined by careless cooking staff. Would I go back? I would honestly love to, I just won't eat here again....

I went to see a singer named Inés Estévez and her group (piano, trumpet, bass, drums, and guitar). The group continued the very high standard of musicianship common among Buenos Aires jazz groups/orchestras. Ms. Estévez, on the other hand, might be a so-so singer if she picked the right songs, but tonight many of her selections were not in her wheelhouse. Her rendition of "Some of my favorite things" came off as a sad version of the Door's LA Woman and "On the street where you lived" sounded like she was asking for directions. Once she switched to an uptempo blues song, she found her sweet spot. BeBop Club as a venue is really good. Not every seat is good but the sound system is A+ and the service is excellent. It is not handicap friendly. Restrooms are up a steep flight of stairs. I would not recommend if one has mobility issue.

***READ THIS IF YOU ARE A TOURIST: I happen to see this place on google maps and decided to go that same day on a sunday evening. If you are a foreigner and try to buy a ticket ahead of time on their website, your credit card won't work (I tried with all my credit cards). You can go to the jazz club and buy the ticket there. I went earlier around 7:30pm to buy tickets for the 9:30pm Sunday show. There were some people who came at 9:30pm and bought tickets right there, and the venue was about 80% full. Ticket prices range from 13,000-20,000 Argentinian pesos depending how far you want to sit from the stage. It's a small venue so anywhere is good. You also must buy a minimum of 8,000 pesos worth of food or drink at the show. It was a great place to see jazz in Argentina and was a lovely experience.

What a great night! We went there on a Tuesday evening to see a musician from NY who played the vibraphone. The club is small and we got a table by the stage side for only $10 each. Minimum consumption is $3, easy to spend on an Aperol Sprits that was about $3.90 and I had more than one of course! The sound system was perfect! Lights were low with tiny lamps on the tables giving this jazz club a real feeling of being in one! The gig started at 22:45 and finished just after midnight. Beautiful place for jazz lovers.
