The hostess was very friendly and showed me to my seat (since I'm solo, I could choose from a row of two seaters). I chose near the back (I like to look at the action). PLUS, you do have a view of the open kitchen, let me digress for a moment, open kitchens mean they are confident in their ability to maintain good health practices with the public watching, that's spectacular!
I perused the menu and was greeted by another friendly face! Always going with vino tinto (they only serve Malbec, which is fine with me) and some aqua con gas, si, I'm practicing my Spanish as I type too.
Jorge was my server and I was pleasantly surprised that he allowed me to try my bad Spanish (I need to practice), while he practiced his English! He was on top of his game the entire night (different from servers in Argentina that take you order, serve, and then disappear).
I ordered the Patagonia steak and holy moly, first off, it was huge, second, it was cooked perfectly, third, you better know how to cut against the grain while eating (it's an important trait), and fourth you need to know that medium rare is the only way a steak should be prepared, EVER! Ketchup and stomped on meat lovers (anything over medium) exit left, this is not the place (nor is anywhere ever, you are just disrespecting the cow at this point).
I apologize for another digression, that's just rude!
The mashed potato puree that accompanied this steak almost showed up the meat (I gave very specific instructions to Jorge to tell the chef they were F'ing amazing, as muy bueno doesn't cut it! This deliciousness that will fill your mouth in joy has almonds, chives, and bleu cheese, yes, sounds a bit odd, but damn, get in my mouth! So yummy, like, lick the plate and not be ashamed yummy!
Next up dessert, it's the apple pancake (more like a crepe baked like an upside down pineapple cake) with ice cream, very delicious! I did add salt to the dish (I have a salt deficiency and tend to add salt to thing where it doesn't belong), but that little kick of salt upped the dessert (yes only to me)! I know everyone was appalled, as they thought I was salting my ice cream, I'm not that much of a monster! ).
So yes, that was so good and yes I did have a second glass, I know all will judge ... oh wait, I'm living for me!
The air con wasn't working well and it was VERY hot inside, yet sitting outside was just as unbearable,,, they know of the problem and will correct it. That still did not detract from an amazing meal!
10/10 would recommend and when I am back in a few months, I plan on revisiting! Palermo is an amazing area to begin with!
If you are only an English speaker, fear not, they have you covered! I tend to like the spots where point and mime work out, but you will find someone that does speak English, no worries.
Do yourself a favor and come on down, Price is Right style, jump up and down and tell everyone how happy you are to be there! Tell them Jessica sent you, you won't get anything, but they all know me now, so I would like to see how far...
Read moreOur experience at Campo Bravo was nothing short of disappointing. We had heard great things about this place, but unfortunately, our visit confirmed the recurring issues that many others have mentioned in recent reviews.
We arrived on a busy day and had our friends secure a table for us outside since the inside and upstairs were completely full due to a birthday party. We expected some delays due to the crowd, but what followed was unacceptable.
Once our entire party was seated, we waited quite a while for our waiter to arrive. When we finally placed our first order of steaks, we were told they were out. We then ordered a different cut, only to be informed that it was also unavailable. On our third attempt, the waiter returned yet again to say they didn’t have that either. Keep in mind—this is a steakhouse, and they seemingly had no steak left for us.
At this point, we asked to speak to a manager. She came out promptly and offered us free desserts as compensation, which was not exactly a solution given that we were here for a full meal. She later returned to say that she could offer a discount if we decided to stay. However, on our third round of attempted orders, we were once again told that those cuts were also unavailable.
The reasoning given? First, they blamed the large birthday party inside, which had placed their orders before we had the chance to. Then, they mentioned that because it was a holiday (a long weekend), they had run out of many options.
At this point, the experience was beyond frustrating. Everything we had come here excited to try was unavailable, and the discount they offered felt like an empty gesture rather than a sincere attempt to make things right. After such a terrible experience, we ultimately decided not to stay and eat at all.
It’s clear that this isn’t just a one-time issue—it’s happened to several other guests in the past two months. Poor planning, mismanagement of inventory, and an overall lack of care for customers who aren’t seated in priority areas (like inside near the birthday party) made this visit a complete disaster.
Would not recommend this place unless they seriously improve their service and ensure they can actually provide the meals...
Read moreWe decided to go out for some meat with friends on Sunday and ended up at this restaurant. I had been there a long time ago, back when it was in Las Cañitas, and I remembered it fondly.
What happened this time? We were the first customers in the restaurant, yet our order took a very long time to arrive. One of my friends ordered fish, specifically salmon. On their Instagram, the photo clearly shows two strips of salmon, but she was served just one very small piece. It cost over $30 — definitely not worth it.
Then came the meat. First of all, it was both salted and smoked with wood chips, which I didn’t think much of at first. My friend ordered entraña and I got ojo de bife. What surprised me is that the meat was already salted — which is unusual in Argentina, where you’re typically given the option to salt it yourself.
We ate, everything seemed fine. We tried to bring up the issue with the salmon, but were simply told “that’s how it is.” Today I woke up feeling unwell — like I had been food poisoned. And now it makes sense why the meat was both pre-salted and smoked. I doubt I’ll be able to prove I got sick there, but I’m absolutely sure that’s where it happened.
I will never return to this...
