I've never given a restaurant a TERRIBLE review to any place (especially in Latin America where I've been very pleasantly surprised) but Hierbabuena's deserve it. Not only are the prices very high but watch your bill for extra charges not mentioned anywhere else (Ex: $80 per person for using their plates/cutlery). It must be illegal to do this (and maybe reserver for foreigners). Waited 90 minutes for lunch (a salad) when only two other customers were eating and I pre-mentioned that I only had an hour to be away from work. If you ask for side condiments (like salsa tomate) expect your meal to be complete before it arrives (another example my soy milk arrived about thirty minutes after coffee was already finished). The service staff must be paid and treated badly by management because they generally are extremely aggressive, unhelpful, angry, and rude for such an expensive restaurant. Toilets were shamefully dirty (men's room) considering the prices charged and I saw at least one employee use it without washing hands. Not sure what else to say -- recommend you...
Read moreMediocre and overpriced semi-vegan restaurant with slow service. Starter: black empanadas, sent back as still frozen inside. Main course 1: aubergine masala salad. A mix of undercooked aubergine, a few sad mushrooms and green leaves that had seen better days coated in a sickly sweet dressing. I managed to make it edible by adding olive oil, salt and lemon but only ate it as I was ravenous by then and couldn’t bear another long wait if I returned the dish to the kitchen and ordered something else. Main course 2: ‘pant based’ (yes really!) vegan ceviche, which translated as an extremely salty watermelon salad. This was also eaten due to hunger and with minimal enjoyment. Do yourself a favour and ignore the hype surrounding this place - and if you absolutely must try it, don’t go on a Sunday. On a positive note, the bread and pastries from the bakery...
Read moreLarge sophisticated menu with many options for delicious vegan comfort food. The mushroom burger was the best burger I've ever had. Lively atmosphere with hip American music. Minus 1 star for burnt food and slow service. We went twice and both times they burned something (the quinoa tempeh and the cauliflower in the risotto). Burnt food has carcinogens. Servers were attentive to us in the beginning but then they seemed to forget about us by the time we finished the main course, even though the restaurant was less busy by then. This happened both times we visited and the guests next to us also waited a long time for the check. Seating inside is cramped, so I recommend dining outside or near the exit. Bathroom was in bad shape both times I went, the women's toilet...
