Restaurant Mamani — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

I've avoided eating here in this mammoth Peruvian restaurant in the center of San Telmo not because the menu didn't look good but because all my go-to homestyle Peruvian joints are 50% cheaper or more. Chifa Man San (not homestyle though as the name indicates) just a couple blocks away certainly is.

It wasn't until I saw they had a menu del dia that I decided to drop in.

I"ll just say it: For $120 pesos, this has to be the best lunch menu deal in the neighborhood, of any cuisine: Big bowl of homestyle vegetable soup (choice of an empanada if you wish) Pollo a la cerveza - small, delectable, falling-apart tender piece of chicken with chickpeas and rice, with a thin tasty sauce over everything. Saucer of traditional and delicious Peruvian aji verde sauce

Everything came out hot and tasting fresh, which is not always the case for the menu del dia in many Peruvian places.

Although I don't think it would have broke their budget to add either another piece of chicken or a little more, I was still very happy. Now I'm more likely to try the more expensive and extensive full...

Went on Sunday and got the chowfan de pollo to go with a portion of tres leches cake. The prices are still good as the portions are very large. The food is just as good as when they were located in Abasto behind the Abasto Shopping Mall. Service is not the greatest as they seem annoyed with each other and aren't the friendliest bunch. Some days, they are nicer than others, and it depends on your server. Still, it is some of the best Peruvian food here, so it's worth it. I recommend going...

El ambiente lo tildamos de FAMILIAR es grande con grandes y hermosas fotos. Tiene una capacidad muuuy importante debe ser por eso que las mesas y sillas son de madera simples. Las sillas en particular pueden ser incómodas. Comimos Pollo a la brasa, se ve que los marcan con un tiempo importante, las veces que fui y comí lo mismo siempre el pollo está crudo por dentro. no me convence. Las fritas obviamente están marcadas así que vienen cansadas de tanta espera y algunas durmiendo unas sobre otras. La ensalada parece haber pasado la noche con el Pity Álvarez porque vino seca y dura pero ojo no se olviden de la vinagreta que se lleva todo el sabor y la dureza. Los precios...Alerta a la AFIP nunca entregan tkt fiscal, bah puede ser que estén acomodados. cobran bien cada plato así que me imagino que el dueño a esta altura pudo haber llegado al millón de dólares tranquilamente. Ojo con bromatología porque les cierra el boliche. Las salsas que hacen con huevo crudo son ricas. Pero dejan las jarras afuera por mucho tiempo. No me imagino el tiempo que pasan afuera los potes en donde llegan a la mesa, pareciera que la dejan todo el día hasta que se termina lo que no sé es si las lavan antes de recargarlas sino juegan a la ruleta rusa con la gente.
