This café deserves way more than 5 stars, no doubt. We were in Buenos Aires, Argentina for 8 days and we received the best service among the whole city on our visit to this café. Not close, I had never been treated so nice before by any other waiter, EVER!!!
Our waiter took his time to let us decide what we were going to order and was extremely generous waiting for us and giving us explanations as well as suggestions. He brought some empanadas and breads as our table service and offered water to each one of us, then brought some fresh squeezed lemonade.
Since we definitely look WAY different than the Porteños he asked if we were Venezuelans and we all said "Dominicans", he started making jokes, giving us suggestions on which places we should visit and what are the best cafés to eat or just have a cup of coffee and alfajores.
My sister asked him why was he so nice to us and he quickly responded he's there for us and to make our noon better, not matter how it was before. He never rushed us to leave, quite on the contrary... we spent the whole noon there, from 2pm to 6pm.
I'm not sure if every other waiter has the manners our had, he was an old school gentleman, around his 40's or 50's, full of jokes and excellent manners. We had lunch there, then some coffee, he made us feel like we were at our own home.
My review is primarily to let others know about the great service. Food was delightful, as the pictures talk by themselves. I really Loved Café Tabac.
Caffe Tabac it's a classy, sophisticated and old school café, where you can see Argentinian Stars and old people debating many topics over coffee and snacks.
The ambiance, as mentioned above, was incredible and way more than we expected, we were in another world, we had peace and really enjoyed our time...
Read moreAn iconic full-service coffee shop near the Recoletta neighborhood in Buenos Aires, this cafe has been serving out classic Argentinians breakfast items like medialunes, toast with cream cheese and jam, to lunch bites. The coffee selection in addition to the usual espresso drinks includes some specialities like Cafe de los maestros, a delectable espresso concoction with chocolate, and a hint of almond flavor. However, the best part about the cafe is the location. Nestled on a corner, you can savor the coffee and food while reading a good book or people watching through the day. The neighborhood, ambience, and the liveried service staff harken to a bygone era which you get to experience in...
Read moreI’m about to pay the bill. We ordered one of the breakfast for two. The amount of food is enough for two people.
The ham and cheese medialunas were tasty if a bit too soft (they had lost crispness by the time the waiter brought them to our table).
The café con leche, toast and ham and cheese rolls tasted great and the freshly squeezed OJ was good. Everything else was mediocre.
We also ordered the ”papitas Tabac” and had to send them back because they were absolutely awful.
Hopefully, this was just a bad day in the kitchen, and us being unlucky, because Caffe Tabac used to be excellent in every sense. A pity that today we could not enjoy...
