The food is decent, but I got fleeced. I am a native English speaker, but hold my own in Spanish having lived for eight years in Spanish-speaking countries. The menu had grilled short ribs (tira de asado) for two persons at a price of 15000 ARS (10 ribs total). Eating out alone, I asked if I could get half a "tira" but was told they didn't have half portions, but I could get 5 ribs. It didn't quite make sense to me, but I accepted the server's suggestion thinking that somehow the kitchen would get me half a "tira" and I would pay 7500 ARS (or even 8000 or 9000 ARS) for 5 ribs. Instead, I was charged 25000 ARS for 5 ribs because they were center ribs. I checked the menu and it did indeed list 5 center ribs for two persons. If I didn't want 10 regular ribs for two persons at 15000 ARS, then why in the world would I order 5 center ribs for two persons at 25000 ARS? That really is the key question. I left feeling deceived and ripped off. I won't go back, even though they offered me a complimentary dessert - the last thing I wanted since I am diabetic. I understand that this is basically a miscommunication issue, but a better business model would have been to charge me no more than 15000 ARS for the meat - so buyer beware at La...
Read moreEasily the worst steak I've had in my life. The only time I couldn't eat the steak served at a restaurant. The meat was heavily overcooked but also somehow served very cold??? As it was so heavily overcooked it became tasteless and extremely chewy. Just left nearly all of it after 3 bites and had the chips.
The service was polite and in the end agreed that I shouldn't be charged for the steak- which was extremely expensive.
On top of this, everything was super slow. Arrived at 8:15pm, the steak came at 9:45. Did they forget it was cooked and leave it out for an hour or something which would explain how awful it ended up being. It took until 10:45pm until we were able to pay and leave, so unfortunately too late to get food elsewhere too...
Overall after hearing so many good things about Argentine steak this was a...
Read moreFood: outstanding. We had the 600g bife de chorizo with 2 fried eggs, baked potatoes and arugula salad. It was absolutely phenomenal and turned out to be the best meal in 5 days in Buenos Aires. Dessert was ok but we were warned by the waiter it was probably not our style and we chose it anyways. Should have gone for the flan.
Service: top notch. Very friendly, made good recommendations, was very attentive.
Ambiance: like many other places in Buenos Aires this one is full of character that I'm not sure I'd do justice by describing. It is informal though, just like most places in BA. It was busy with porteños dining around 10pm on a weekday but we found a table right away, just be aware that you may want a reservation if you're specifically coming...
