Walked past 4 de copas bodegon during their lunch service on a Wednesday 05/02/25. They were quite busy so I decided to try the restaurant that evening. Went back at 6.30pm, thinking they’d be open but discovered they began service at 8.00pm. Killed time around the corner visiting an amazing baroque basilica and having a sinful craft beer close by. Back at 4 de copas, by 8pm, I greeted/seated by a lovely waitress (should probably say waitperson) who speaks great English (my Spanish being limited to barely audible syllables) and whom talked me through the menu. I chose a glass of Fernet to begin but not with coke - rather soda. It was bitter but cleansing after my two craft beers. I ordered Sorrentonos pasta. Big ravioli with cubes of meat within and served in a richly delicious tomato sauce. My sorrentonos dish was great, for a first time consumer. I didn’t find the pasta shell tough or hard as some reviewers claim?! The serving was generous and filling. A glass of vino and mineral water completed the bill but I was served a gratis plate of bread with olives and some kind of spread which I couldn’t determine....

I ordered a croissant, only to discover it was clearly from the previous day—stale and far from fresh. For a café or bakery, fresh pastries should be a given, not an exception.
