We booked Selina Nueva in Cordoba as it seemed like the cheapest hostel option available with a pool for ur stay in Cordoba. We were not aware that the hostel was part of a chain, but it was pretty obvious from when we arrived as they treat the front desk and check in more like a hotel than a hostel. They even have a tacky little gift shop selling their own merchandise, which felt a bit weird.||We arrived early in the morning and the room was not yet available, but they allowed us to leave our bags at the desk and make use of the hostel facilities in the meantime. We were told that the room would probably be ready by 12:00 or so but it ended up being around 14:30 when we checked in, but that allowed us a morning of exploring the city and some time in the pool which, weirdly, had a cleaning robot perpetually active underwater that made it difficult to swim uninterrupted as the cord would get in the way. ||The location was also great, right in the city centre about a ten minute walk to the main square. As we stayed there during a holiday day on the lead up to Christmas, we were also in the best location for the outdoors parade there with lots of music and street food available right outside.||The four-bed room was comfortable, though it got pretty hot in the night as the air conditioning would turn off. Beds had a curtain for privacy which is always appreciated, and the ensuite bathroom at least had hot water which is more than can be said for a lot of South America. ||The other hostel facilities were fine; we especially appreciated the little Netflix cinema room which was incredibly comfortable. There is a downstairs bar and restaurant but prices are a lot higher than in other places in the city, something else that made us feel like Selina Nueva was really a hotel pretending to be a hostel. As well, we were not allowed to bring our own drinks downstairs to sit outside by the pool for this reason, which was a shame. However, when we had checked out and had a while to wait for our bus, the staff did give us access back to the cinema which was nice of them. Oh, and if you download the Selina app then you get a free spirit and mixer...
Read moreI had come from another Selina in Buenos Aires and was really happy to see that it was great here too. The rooms and facilities are super clean and on a daily basis, are attended to so I always felt like I was in a clean environment. The beds are INCREDIBLY COMFORTABLE, I sleep so well in those beds! The lockers are nice and big for all your belongings. The staff are really lovely, helpful and accommodating, they made me feel very at home and whatever I needed they were able to accommodate. LOVELY Cami, Juan, Marina, Fran, Nacho, Esteban, Rodrigo, Paula, Victoria were so sweet and always ready to help (and the others, sorry if I've forgotten to mention you!!). There is a 24 hour reception which was super helpful. They have a VERY COOL pool area: a pretty big pool with lots of sunloungers, sofas and chill out chairs on the decking, and inside is a massive bar with lots of places to sit and read or work. Their social team is really good - they bring artists, DJs and singers which are brilliant and attracts a good crowd. They also have a library (and quiet room) and a cinema which you can use whenever you want! The location is amazing - right in the heart of the centre - right next to Iglesia de los Capuchinos and Buen Pastor, also near Guemes which is a great going out area (and it's a 15 minute walk from the bus station so it's perfect). There are available yoga classes too. Great stay which I would...
Read moreThis hostel is part of a chain and not independently owned and it's noticeable. The people that work here are at their dayjob and don't go the extra mile. We even found that there was a "great deal, just opened up" but when we pulled out cash (instead of card) he was unsure whether he could still find this offer... -_-
The breakfast is good, but run by the bar downstairs, the shop on ground level there is also run externally, so the receptionist can't answer questions about either.
The room is quite nice, we had a private. Bathroom there wasn't super clean, but the room was good and had AC which was very welcome on the hot days we were there.
The elevator is working badly and broke down when we were there which seemed to be a regular thing. Luckily we already had our bags up (7th...
