Today, July 26th, 2025, my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of dining at Alto El Fuego in Bariloche, and what an unforgettable experience it was.
From the moment we arrived, we could tell the place was special. It was completely full — buzzing with energy — and we instantly knew we were in for something amazing. Luckily, we managed to get what I consider the best seat in the entire restaurant: right at the bar, directly in front of the grill, where all the magic happens.
There, we had front-row seats to watch two true masters at work — Fran and Boni, the grill chefs. The way they handle the fire and meat is like a performance, filled with precision, passion, and soul. Alongside them, Aylen was preparing other incredible dishes with perfectly balanced flavors and flawless seasoning. You can tell this team cooks with love.
A special shoutout to Fran, who prepared what was hands down the best meat I’ve had in Bariloche — the ojo de bife and pechito de cerdo were absolutely perfect. Juicy, tender, full of flavor. You can feel the care in every cut.
The ambiance is warm and cozy, with a rustic charm that feels both elegant and welcoming. But what really made our night exceptional was the service. Every single staff member treated us like VIPs. Augustin, Rosa, Alan, and Florencia were all incredible — friendly, attentive, and deeply professional.
I want to give a special shoutout to Augustin and Rosa in particular. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable, offering service in Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian — a perfect blend of cultures that added a special touch to the evening. Their kindness and charisma truly stood out.
This wasn’t just a dinner — it was an experience. If you’re in Bariloche, Alto El Fuego is an absolute must. Come hungry, grab a seat at the bar if you can, and let the flames, flavors, and fantastic people...
Read moreWe heard so many good things about the place so we saved it for our last day in bariloche.
The waitress started with saying that they do not return food to the kitchen if its not done correctly, which is suspicious on its own but we carried on. Most meat was ordered medium and came way (way!) Over cooked. We talked with the waitress who served the food, who said "its fine" and left as we were speaking. We called another waiter and asked why the food came so over cooked, who argued with us about the doneness levels of meat and only agreed to speak to someone about it after we showed him pictures of doneness levels on our phones. After over 20 minutes of nobody showing up, and us not eating, we asked a third waiter to call someone in charge so we can talk about the food and service. He called the owner of the place and we explained everything and he said he does not take customer reviews from Israelis because we do not understand Argentinian meat (we were staying at Argentina for a month now and never had any problem with any food so far so it is just a racist and ignorant thing to say). After arguing with him for around 10 minutes, and him saying he will call the police if we don't pay for the entire meal (which was taken untouched from our table already) he will call the police. Luckily we had a Spanish friend with us and only after she talked with him that she didnt like the food he agreed the serve one dish for free (came after 40 minutes of us not eating by now).
Horrible and disappointing. Would recommend everyone, mostly Israeli, to check alberto's or Tony's...
Read moreA Local Treasure Worth Savoring There are restaurants that serve food, and then there are dining establishments that create memories. Alto el Fuego firmly belongs in the latter category. Nestled in a beautifully restored building downtown but in a wooded lot, this local gem has perfected the art of the steakhouse experience while maintaining the warm, personal touch that only family ownership can provide. The star of the show is, without question, the meat. The result is beef that achieves an amazing level of flavor and tenderness. Every cut arrives with a gorgeously caramelized crust that gives way to a perfectly medium-rare interior if that’s your thing. But they’ll cook it to the exact point you desire. But what truly sets Alto el Fuego apart is their dedication to the complete dining experience. The service is nothing short of phenomenal. Listen to their wine suggestions because they actually know what they’re talking about. Each server demonstrates an encyclopedic knowledge of both the menu and wine list. And then there are the desserts. Oh, the desserts. Whoever is their pastry chef knows how to create confections that could merit a visit even if you skipped dinner entirely. The wine cellar has a great selection. The sommelier team has assembled a list that includes both prestigious labels and hidden gems, with markup well below what you'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber. This is destination dining that happens to be in our own backyard, a restaurant that could compete with any steakhouse in the country while maintaining its distinctly...
