Our family decided to spend the New Year period here. Considering that they charge the same as a hotel in Manhattan or Amsterdam we had high expectations. The truth is that it was a great disappointment!! The shower temperature was freezing cold or burning hot; and pressure was hilarious - a little bit more than dripping. The extra point was a lower faucet that sometimes took the rest of the pressure and you couldn't wash yourself properly. Despite our complaints, this was the reality for 6 nights. The reception desk has kind people, but if you are old and need a cart to unload your luggage, don't expect any help. They don't have structure to deal with warm weather, so every night we had to leave the windows open and try to sleep with the "pleasent noise" of the street. If you need Wi-Fi, forget it! The cherry on the cake was the Reveillon dinner where just after the beginning there was a lack of wine and part of the desserts weren't replaced - all these dinner convenience for "just" 140 USD each one. I've already been to several NH hotels around the world, and the Edelweiss has a history in Bariloche, but my statement is: do NOT stay here if you are looking for a higher standard hotel. Your money deserve better. I feel embarrassed to write this, since it is the first time I'm publicly criticizing a hotel. But it was too much to...
Read moreBariloche is in a beautiful area of Argentina. This hotel is very well placed for looking around the town and some of the rooms have lovely views overlooking Lake Nahuel Huapi.||Our room was extremely comfortable and always very clean and tidy.||The staff working at the Reception desk were friendly and helpful.||The staff working in the Dining Room and Bar were neither friendly, cheerful or helpful.||The choice on offer at breakfast was really excellent.||We ate one dinner in the Restaurant which was fine. We ate one lunch in the Bar which was extremely disappointing. We waited ages for two chicken salads which were dry, unappetising and consisted of two pieces of chicken approximately 4 cms x 4 cms per person and a few salad leaves. The barman seemed far more interested in watching the television than attending to all his customers. When we received our bill we found we had been undercharged and pointed this out so that the bill could be changed. When we finally settled the bill for the correct amount the barman did not seem...
Read moreThis hotel is far from a 4-star one … it has very good things, but there are important issues better to forget:||||The bad things:||||- Water pressure is almost non-existent, which makes very difficult to shower in the morning … this needs urgent reparation, it's almost unbelievable.||- Noise from a neighbour pub … live music (specially on weekends) which you cannot avoid … because the windows are not the better ones that isolates noise … they need to change them.||- No air conditioning in the hot summer is something that makes for a very bad night sleep … the ventilator is just a joke because it's very hot in the summer.||- The pool has very few resting chairs, and I wonder why the terrace cannot be used in a more interesting way to have better views to the lake or something ….||||Good things:||||- Staff is mostly quite helpful and friendly.||- Location is quite convenient.||||Overall, I will definitely return to the city (I've been here several times in the past) but I won't be returning...
