L'Italiano Trattoria — Restaurant in Municipio de San Carlos de Bariloche

Major disappointment all around.

I've been traveling for months and eaten in countless restaurants, big and small, along the way. This is easily and by far the WORST experience I've had both in terms of food and service.

Service was horrible! We waited for nearly an hour for a main course without the waiter ever bothering to check on us. The fish (which they had highly recommended over pasta) was a complete disgrace. It was served cold, dry and unpalatable. Turns out they had forgotten the sauce all together! When I finally did get the sauce it was an unappealing mix of liquids that didn't sit well together :/ after such a long wait and mistake after mistake there was no apology. They even overcharged me for having had a salad for a side instead of fries (they charged for a full order of salad even though the menu said a side dish is included in the price).

The food was fast food quality but with a horrendous wait and big price tag :-/

The restaurant atmosphere left a lot to be desired. Table cloths were a mess with stains all over them. Having observed the way they 'clean' the tables while we were patiently waiting (and waiting) I wouldn't call them clean at all. There was a chilly breeze from the door that some customers would leave open and the staff would completely ignore.

This place is a tripadvisor hussle. The atmosphere is great when you arrive but restaurant is pretty empty. The waiter (and owner) then starts making friends with you. He tells you their pasta is the best. Your first clue should be that the pasta and the sauce is sold separately, and theres chicken pasta. No Italian would EVER do this. Then you get the pasta and it is worse than what I made myself as a student who first learned to cook. Clearly frozen ingredients, bland pasta that has been cooked too long. We both got a different pasta and both were bottom tier. Then after the dinner the singer comes to beg for money. If that wasnt enough, when you ask for the bill the waiter comes with a huge qr code laminated sheet begging for 5 star reviews. Don't fall for the other five star reviews. These are gullible Americans who don't know what good food is. You can make the same pasta from a jar at the supermarket. This guy has gamed the Tripadvisor system and deserves to go under. Theres amazing food in Argentina but...

I had high hopes for this restaurant given its ranking on Tripadvisor (#2 in the city), but sadly, it did not live up to the expectations.

We ordered the Caprese salad, which lacked fresh basil and was paired with low-quality cheese—an unfortunate start to the meal. For the main course, I had stuffed fazzoletti with mushroom sauce. The fazzoletti were overcooked, falling apart, and the sauce tasted like plain béchamel with no hint of mushroom flavour. Despite being hungry, I couldn’t finish my meal.

On the positive side, the service was nice—the waiter was kind and attentive throughout. However, good service alone cannot compensate for food that doesn’t meet basic Italian standards.

If you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine, I would suggest exploring other options. This place seems to cater more to its location in a busy tourist area than to delivering...
