My favourite coffee speciality café! The coffee is consistently well-made, and the food is delicately divine. Not only is there a delish range of healthy sweets and snacks, but the meals are exquisite, and if you're lucky enough to drop by when they have their Portuguese tarts, try one! I know, I know, most cafés have them. But I've yet to have one elsewhere that has the touch of lemon like A Mother's Milk does (at least at Unley). And if coffee isn't your taste, they have fantastic smoothies and juices too. And wine!
This speciality café has something for everyone - the food and beverages are a quality served to an ancient dietie's leisurely brunch that we would be envious of in the past if not for the ability to enjoy it ourselves today, and the staff are lovely. Truly wonderful people, I always look forward to coming in and enjoying the brief chats as I await my coffee. There's always been good vibes, and I adore the café's indoor and outdoor seating areas. Lovely wall art to match a great atmosphere that's welcoming to all. Mother's Milk is also child and family friendly, they don't mind children at all!
This café deserves all the love it has. But more importantly, if you're reading this and wondering if it's the place to go to for breakfast or lunch, doubt no more - go and treat yourself!
Mother's Milk serves you like a good mother's love, with warmth and comfort, open arms and the promise you can return again to indulge in the service of lovely people, lovely food, and a...
Read moreMe and members of my family come here very regularly, sometimes almost every day, for coffee. Went on Motherâs Day and they had a set brunch menu, which was the same as their normal menu but with slight tweaks. I always get the avocado toast and ordered this which, because of the special menu that day, came with feta (it usually doesnât). I explained I was vegan and that every time I order this it doesnât come with feta and I was rudely told by an older woman staff member âwell thats why I gave you the special menu todayâ and she walked away. No apologies or understanding. In addition to this, the forks we were given had dried food in between the spokes and were not cleaned properly - we asked twice for them to replace our cutlery and it was the same for all of them. Obviously they donât polish (soak in hot water) their cutlery, standard procedure for any cafe/restaurant.
The younger staff are really lovely, but this older woman waitress is awfully rude. We donât come here at all anymore, instead we go to...
Read moreWe came by for the first time after reading all the rave reviewsâclearly, we missed something everyone else experienced.
The service on Sunday was, letâs say, understated. The staff member barely spoke and gave the impression that sheâd much rather be anywhere else. We totally get that Sundays are slow, but a little interaction and communication never hurts.
Food: The mango salad and chicken bowl were⊠acceptable. Not bad, not amazing. Just kind of there. They filled the plate, and thatâs about the extent of the excitement.
Drinks: Matcha lovers, beware. The matcha we ordered was a bit of a mysteryâdull in color, bland in taste, and suspiciously lacking that signature matcha richness. If it wasnât expired, it certainly wasnât the good stuff. A minor detail, but one that matters.
This isnât meant to be harshâjust honest. For the price, we had hoped for a bit more care and attention. Fingers crossed that this was just an off day, and that future visits might match the cafĂ©âs...
