We had an appointment nearby and were looking for a meal around 2.30pm. Most places were about to close for lunch, but this cafe was open. It is a little cafe which had about 5 tables, but most of the clients seem to be ordering takeaways. We ordered the combination bahnmi, salt and pepper chicken, and combination pho. The food suprised us as we did not have high expectations, but the meal was hearty. Portions were more than sufficient for us. In spite of the comments from some reviewers about the portion size, we found that the meat in the roll, and in the pho was similar to other places, if not more. The meat; roast pork and chicken were tender and not chewy. Not sure why, but the owners have opted for chunky pieces of meat. The pho broth was not clear but tasted umami, which was more than enough for us to be happy. The salt and pepper chicken was crispy, not too oily, and flavourful. It is not the place to go if you want fancy pho or bahnmi, but a good spot if you want warm food which taste good, and...
Read moreSpur of the moment decision by my mother to come here for mother's day. All of us were very happy! I asked for the vegan laksa, but they had run out of broth, and suggested the began stir fry or rice bowl. This is great, because so many places will suggest the non-vegan version.
I opted for the tofu rice bowl, and a spring roll. It was ready almost immediately! The tofu was well cooked and marinated, the carrot and cucumber had some sort of marinade or vinegar in it that was absolutely lovely, and the whole show was doused in sweet chilli sauce. It made for a delicious, if spicy lunch. The spring roll was crunchy and fresh as well. Mum had a seafood laksa and fried rice, grandpa had sweet and sour pork.
Great portion sizes for the price, I was definitely full by the time my plate was empty! Very refreshing. All the staff were absolutely lovely, and patient with both myself and my grandpa being hard of hearing.
I'll be coming back next time...
Read moreAfter being a frequent customer of Bami Dawpark I feel I need to raise a few concerns. Recently staff taking orders seem to be confused very easily. Double checking the order, but often repeating back incorrect information and then losing track of the order once completed. Previously we could order a noodle salad bowl (pork) with a spring roll cut up in the bowl as an extra, this has changed with the inclusion also resulting in less pork? Pork quality has also gone downhill. With a lot of dry or fatty pieces, quantity has also been reduced. The last round of Pad Thai was a sloppy mess. Oh and please bring back kombucha as a drink option. We have really liked this place in the past but we feel if things do not improve we will be...
