Sumacs Acai and Desserts Bar — Restaurant in Adelaide

I was very excited to try this place after hearing a lot of good reviews but my visit didn’t go as expected.

I ordered the shanshlik platter. Honestly, the dips (Hummus , Baba Ghanoush and Garlic sauce) were too good - Fresh and flavourful 5/5. Next is my favorite - Fatoush - just awesome 6/5. Among the skewers - the chicken was cooked to perfection and the lamb was succulent 5/5. The kafta was disappointing - they had a foul smell and unappetising 1/5. Their portion size was also unacceptable.

The bread was not fresh and ruined the experience to enjoy them with the dips. The rice wasn’t fresh too and had unbalanced flavours, eventually didn’t taste any good. It wasn’t microwaved properly and I could feel some parts of it being warm and cold.

Sumacs Acai and Desserts Bar is an absolute gem! It’s a little family-run spot, and you can really taste the love and care that goes into everything they serve. The food is always fresh, generous in portion, and incredibly affordable. Their Middle Eastern-style dishes are authentic and delicious — from the creamy hummus, smoky babaganoush, and rich labneh to the freshly baked pita, fragrant za’atar, and perfectly cooked kebabs. Food was 4/5 star, service was 2/5. Prices are high, which I understand are impacted by the current inflation. But the quantity shouldn't be impacted if the prices have already been raised. You can surely do better with chips when charging $8.

Fathers day Chocolate was a good touch. Liked that.

Establishment has great seating capacity, they keep it clean. Please try using bathroom before coming here, they are no where close to be called clean - let alone hygiene.

Overall rating is only impacted due to quantity of food and the service. May come back for another go and hope to revise my ratings.
