Yum yum yum! Chicken was a star, fat completely rendered but chicken moist, skin crispy, full of smoky flavour. Beef brisket & pork belly melt in your mouth. All 3 comes with a pile of slaw underneath. The pumpkin & grain salad was to die for & the tomatoes with spices & herbs was simple yet flavoursome (& it’s not even tomato season yet). Side serves we ordered was the small size and it’s so generous in serving! The amount we ordered could of easily feed 4-5 but the 2 of us ate most and doggy bagged the rest. 100% going back Went back 2nd time, so added a few more photos. Ordered the squid which was delicious but definitely wouldn’t fill me up if I didn’t get the pumpkin salad to go with it. Kids had a burger with the smoky brisket in it and chips were amazing.

Dinner at @blackbirdadl! This is a little unassuming shop on Goodwood Road in Colonel Lights Gardens. The food was just absolutely delicious! Great value (big portions) and friendly service. . Blackened charcoal chicken: omg this was so good! The chicken was full of flavour, and the tenderness was perfect 🤤🤤😍😍. . Pork belly: marinated in soy, garlic, spring onion, pink peppercorn, with pear and daikon salad. Wow we really loved this dish! Sooooo good! . Roti pumpkin: with buckwheat, parsley tabouli, lemon and smoked eggplant puree. Super interesting dish! Loved the roasted pumpkin - soft and lots of flavour. . Chips: can't go wrong with these! They're perfectly crispy. . Wild rice and quinoa: big bowl of rice. Not much to say about this one 😅😅.

All of the dishes I've tasted deserve a higher price tag due to the superior quality. From all the well-balanced dishes, I can clearly see the effort that has been put in by the chef. My most favourite dish is the squid +black rice+ pumpkin. The squid is perfectly cooked in two different way to maximize the texture. The tube is super succulent, and has a strong chargrill aroma. The leg was fried to provide various texture to the dish. The black rice+pumpkin is a harmonious combination that was served under the squid to absorb the juice. Mint and parsley support the dish with some brightness. Finished with some rich sauce that has a little bit of heat. That dish for me is definitly deserve a spot in 30+ dollar price point.

All of the dishes I've tasted deserve a higher price tag due to the superior quality. From all the well-balanced dishes, I can clearly see the effort that has been put in by the chef. My most favourite dish is the squid +black rice+ pumpkin. The squid is perfectly cooked in two different way to maximize the texture. The tube is super succulent, and has a strong chargrill aroma. The leg was fried to provide various texture to the dish. The black rice+pumpkin is a harmonious combination that was served under the squid to absorb the juice. Mint and parsley support the dish with some brightness. Finished with some rich sauce that has a little bit of heat. That dish for me is definitly deserve a spot in 30+ dollar price point.

I am not in the habit of writing reviews, but was so impressed by this new local restaurant, I felt the need to do so!

Black Bird is a small, cosy casual dining experience. Would only seat about 15-20 people. A relatively small, but very good menu. The wine list was also compact but had good quality wines and beers to choose from. It was almost full when we arrived, and was filled shortly thereafter. The food was amazing! The pork belly was sublime.The prices were very good.Extremely friendly and polite staff. They have only been open for a couple of weeks and were probably caught out a little bit by the hot Friday evening that was at the end of what was a very hot week (and it seemed like everyone in the neighbourhood wanted to eat out!) Because of this , service was a little slow, but we weren't in a hurry and weren't fussed by this. The waiter was very apologetic about the service and to our surprise, a second round of drinks appeared and were on the house. Because of this, we didn't have the heart to pull out our entertainment card and ask for our discount. This didn't matter, because we both agreed that we'll be able to use it on our next visit ,which will be in the very near future! I loved eating in at the Black Bird last night, and am looking forward to eating there again soon. The three of had a very enjoyable dining experience for under $75. Once word gets out about this place, it will be hard to get a seat there I think (we had better go back there soon I think!). Highly...

Good food but waiter didn't write anything down so had to come back to check our drink order (no worries), but then I was brought the wrong food. I told the waitress, who apparently didn't speak any English so beckoned over another waiter who also... didn't speak English? In any case didn't respond. The original waiter eventually came over too so I repeated myself for the third time. My husband's food was sitting there getting cold while they made the actual food I ordered. They also charged us for what they had originally brought me which was dearer than what I actually ordered but with the language barrier I decided the few dollars wasn't worth it.

Decorations are pretty tacky. We had to ask for the heater to be turned on (outside in the middle of winter).

We thought we'd try this place, which has only been open for two weeks. We sampled four out of the current six dishes on their Charcoal Rotisserie menu.

I thought the food was excellent for the prices that they are charging. My favourite is the Beef Brisket, which had a nice smokiness and a sweet BBQ sauce. Their signature Blackened Charcoal Chicken is nicely spiced and roasted to perfection - juicy and moist.

We also tried the Pork Belly, which was well balanced by the pear and diakon salad, and their Chargrilled Chicken Salad. For sides, the Roti Pumpkin is interesting and a dish I would order again.

Being new, they are still working through issues. It was a hot day and unfortunately, the air conditioning didn't cope well or I would have easily rated this...
