Cheesy Charlies Daw Park — Restaurant in Adelaide

By far my favourite place in Adelaide!! Every time I’m in from Sydney this is my go to. This time around we decided to pop in instead of having it delivered. What a treat it was, the owner was so hospitable and made us feel so welcome. Basketball on the TV and so clean. Games to play while we waited for our food and great music as well. The food far exceeded what I remembered, best Philly cheesesteak that I’ve had in Australia(and I’ve had a lot). Bread perfectly crisped on the outside and juicy and soft on the inside. The meat!!! So tender and full of flavour!!! Full of melted cheese and I honestly couldn’t have asked for anything more. Also ordered the chicken Philly which was delicious in its own right. Perfectly caramelised onions and peppers, with an amazing sauce with just the right amount of sauce. Mac and cheese with the panko topping was something I haven’t been able to find since back home Chicago. The pizza was also a knockout(thanks for that!!). So true the saying "when the cat is out, the mice play!" When have you ever seen a "pizza maker" in front of the oven, making pizzas with his jacket on...so unhygienic!!

Then we order the pizzas...staff is wonderful, service is great, but it was disappointing that if you ask to add an extra topping like onions....you couldn't see them!! Onions on a pizza don't cost them anything only annoying to prepare...but that's part of their job!! On the pizza, we asked if there was any...yes there was. At least the pizza base hasn't changed was very crispy and was good! The other pizza was meant to have Gorgonzola and there was no sign of it...no taste....nothing!!! We paid for a pizza with blue cheese and it was only with veggies....you couldn't even see the spinach leaves...so disappointed!! 💯💯👎👎

The main thing that was also annoying was, in-between all their European /American style drinks, how can a business not have any BOTTLED WATER only filtered tap water!! If I wanted tap water I would've bought it from home!!

So bad in every way. Pizza quality is below standard, obviously pre made dough - honestly dominos is better. Slow service, over an hour and a half for delivery. Phoned twice to say running late, but seriously, twice - how late can you be when you are less than 5km away? no offer of any compensation, just a robotic person on the phone saying 'I apologise, it will be there soon', they didn't care a bit....anyway the pizza, don't bother! i promise dominos is better - if you are thinking wood oven, traditional Italian puff thin crust with incredible base sauce then think again. Commercial quality of similar to a 'chain' of stores, and you know its bad when you don't even want to finish it! Also I am not a keyboard warrior as they have accused me of being, I simply like to get decent service and food for my money - and that is not what happened. If the food had of been delivered hot and stood up to delicious quality then irrespective of the lateness and lack of service I would have given a rating to suit, unfortunately the food was not, hence my rating.
