Authenticity, precision and perfection. These are the words one should associate with Blue Velvet. From the moment you walk in, the intimate, cosy atmosphere welcomes you. The unmistakable smell of fresh pizza and toasted tomatoes surrounds, as you settle into the soft, lovely booths. Gentle Italian love songs serenade you, as you are spoilt for choice on the menu. Pizzas, meatballs, olives, fresh garlic bread - it's impossible to make the wrong choice. In the wrong order, the tiramisu was the single most luscious, perfectly balanced dessert I have ever had the sheer pleasure of eating. My wife's vegan chocolate cake with pandam custard was tender and morish. The pizza was flawless - crunchy and light without being floppy. Plenty of toppings and a perfect sourdough crust. Again, perhaps the best I've ever had. To finish this reverse order, the meatballs were instantly recognisable as being an authentic Nonna recipe - an unmistakable texture and flavour that only the masterful hands of an Italian Nonna could teach. The vegan garlic bread was flawless also, perfectly cooked and expertly balanced. And lastly, the affogato was exactly as perfect as everything else. Paulo and Eleneya were the most graceful, perfectly mannered and wonderfully presented hosts. The entire experience stands as our favourite meal of all time. Across eight countries, we have sampled double Michelin Star restaurants in Soho that can't compete with Blue Velvet. Adelaide is blessed to be the home of such true talent for Italian cuisine. We will be back, and in greater numbers. I regret not taking more photographs. I will rectify this upon our next visit. Grazie, per il pasto più speciale della nostra vita.

we went all out trying 3 entrees, 2 pizzas and 2 desserts. They don’t offer pasta on weekdays, otherwise we would have tried that too. Everything was quite bland. I was excited to try the house made bread with the entree, however it was cut so thin (as pictured) and then toasted and butter on it, there’s no way to taste the bread itself. The potato croquet was just plain potato, no flavour at all - tasted like a hash brown, not something I’d choose to eat with dinner and the arancini ball was over cooked on the outside with the rice hard on the inside.. underwhelmed with the entree, but open minded for the pizza. Pizza came and it was really missing flavour. The dough is delicious (which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1), but it needs some sort of flavour on top. Apple strudel for dessert has more nuts than apple in it. A lot left to be desired. Our bottle of water was dirty on the inside (pictured) The 2 Italian ladies front of house were running like mad, the younger one seemed very stressed the entire time we were there. Maybe adding 1 extra to front of house will give a better environment. We wore jumpers, however had to go to our car to get big jackets to wear. If you’re sitting in the front room you’ll need it. For our $170 dinner for 2 we definitely could have eaten somewhere else better.

One word describes Blue Velvet and that word is scrumdumdidiliyumptious. Pizza in the upper echelon of SA, ready to rival most popular spots like the 'teca. I dreamt about this pizza for a few days after, and dreamt even more considering the Tiramisu. The pizza dough is light, airy, and beautifully crafted, it doesn't sit in your stomach like some heavier doughs. I rate it 94/100. Was also the best burrata I've ever had? The service is top-notch—attentive and incredibly friendly, we got about 5-6 enthusiastic "Hello! Welcome!!" before we found our seats. Our waitress was amazing, wish I could name drop her here. Speaking of the seats, the dining area is beautifully and creatively furnished. Very suave and romantic. If you’re looking for an unforgettable pizza experience, this is the place to be. Not talked about enough, will definitely be back soon.

The food and location is quite nice. We had a large group for High Tea. We were charged full price for people that didn't turn up but we weren't given their serves of food. One of our tables wasn't given enough serves each round even though it wasn't a full table, they were told to get it themselves from another table which was a little difficult due to space and a large group of us. There was a bit of a mixup with the tea so we weren't given a caffeine and herbal option for each table and were given some random flavours we didn't request. One of our party has a severe strawberry allergy so we requested no strawberry, unfortunately we had strawberry in the desserts. The weather was reasonably mild but the room was quite hot and stuffy with no air-conditioning. As a group , the general consensus was that for the price we expected better service and less confusion, felt overpriced. Update - as I can't reply to the response...the history of the email exchange was a little ambiguous and there were so many. But as I'd already been charged and had no recourse I figured I would just maintain politeness because what's the point 🤷 but yes there is a big disconnect between the email communication and communication on the day with the staff that didn't seem to know what had been arranged. I had a number of complaints and feedback from attendees and this reflects that. Regardless, I do still maintain it is unfair to charge for cancellations and NOT serve the food. And my other feedback still stands. These are things I'd want to know if I were going somewhere so the review is for other people...
