It's #buySAforSA week in South Australia. I went down to my good friends at Vili's to try out their pie of the month - the Mexican Pie. They're also doing delicious pie toppers in various flavours so I kept with the mexican theme and got the mexican pie topping. For dessert the Nutella Bomb. Vili's is a South Australian bakery and has been around since 1968. Everything is handmade at the bakery.

The presentation of the pie was visually exciting. Wow ! It did look too good to eat. The pastry was nice and soft. It had a nice fluffy texture on the palate. The pasty was baked perfectly top, sides and bottom. The lid you didn't notice the traditional flakiness because of the amazing pie topping. The pastry was an even colour all round.

Let's get stuck into the pie. Now I've had the cocktail version of the Mexican pie, but it was time to get the big version with all the added extras. The pie looked to be packed full of mince and a few kidney beans. The taste was a mild mexican flavour. The mince was excellent, seasoned perfectly, had hints of tomato, capsicum and a paprika flavour. The Locally sourced meat, butchered and minced onsite. The meat to gravy ratio was spot on along with the consistency - perfect. The pie stability was good. Serving temp was spot on. Now this is a sit down type of meal, it's got too much happening to eat it by hand. Now when you combine the pie with the guacamole and sour cream, my tastebuds were having a party. I totally loved vili's mexican pie, you've nailed the flavours and whoever came up with the pies toppings - you're a genius ! This was a culinary delight.

The Nutella Bombs - what a delicious tasting donut. It was fresh tasting, the soft velvety cream nutella was spectacular. It was a chocolate heaven. Go and get one !

Plenty of dining area for you to sit down and enjoy your meals. Toilets also located onsite.

Ambience is simple and basic, the brightly lit place lined with functional furnishings. People of all walks of life dine here quickly then go, yet the place is busy throughout the day and night, 24 hours daily. . Service is mostly self-service, with ordering and payment over the counter, though staff do serve some orders to your table. There's basic product knowledge, and cleaning up is done leisurely, so most diners clean up after themselves. . Food is traditional Australian cuisine, focused on baked products and confectioneries, produced to consistent quality and standards, serving as the baseline entry level. Portions are sized for individuals. Prices are affordable and wallet-friendly, budget about AUD $22 per person. . The iconic Australian Pie Floater (AUD $15.50), with the palm-sized pie pastry crust filled with tender juicy beef steak chunks and soft carrots, generously covered with a soup of creamy mushy peas and thick tomato ketchup, without the use of mashed potatoes. A hearty labourer's lunch, this carries bold vegetal grassy earthy sweet buttery meaty salty savoury peppery spice flavour. . No surprise to see the Lamington (AUD $5.35) here. The square sponge cake is coated in a layer of chocolate and grated coconut, and has a soft spongy texture, with bright fruity sweet chocolatey flavour. . The Vanilla Slice (AUD $6.10) is so nice. The thick layer of creamy wobbly soft custard flavoured with vanilla, is sandwiched with crisp flaky layers of thin puff pastry, topped with icing sugar. Carries bright floral sweet...

I ordered some breakfast through the Cafe de Vili's App on 29/05/2025 and unfortunately went back to sleep and forgot about my order for sometime.

I remembered later on in the evening and the only reason I did not return to collect it was because I am currently moving house and was extremely tired and didn't feel fit to drive. Sure I could've called then and there but thought I'd just wait until the morning as surely the staff would be understanding and potentially make it for me again no problem, how wrong I was!

I contacted Vili's this morning 30/05/2025 only to be told "due to the ingredients being used yesterday, it can't just "be done" (made) for me again and that maybe I should "contact Uber and get it refunded"??? I didn't order through Uber, it was through your Cafe de Vili's App where there is no third party or option for refunds etc yet I was told over the phone today I can get a drink for free?

This makes no sense to me! You obviously have a process for wastage etc I imagine, like with items that are dropped on the ground accidentally? So I'm unsure why maybe this process can't be used for such instances? Because as far as I'm concerned I've just wasted what little money I had to spare!

Also due to this I am unfortunately not going to come back and make any more purchases with the company and believe me I'll be letting all my friends and family know so they will take their business elsewhere!

So if had I come back last night because it was still within the period of 24 hours it would have been happily made for me again? So what notes would the staff have recorded then? To me, in either situation it doesn't make any difference! What happened to the customer being right and giving them a positive experience so they do continue to return and provide business for...
