This is a two part review. One for the comedy show and the second for their below average quiz night.

MyBar hosts the "Fringe on the Fringe" comedy show each year. It's brilliant and well worth going. I have attended 3 years running. Totally awesome.

Now the negative review.

MyBar also hosts a quiz night. The overall structure is just simply awful. The only positive part of the quiz night is that it is electronic with keypads that removes the possibility of cheating via using smart phones for the answers.

And that is where it ends. The "host" allows his wife to attend the function, nil issues with that, but she is also one of the contestants playing on a team. Ummm, slight conflict of interest there? For added fun the quiz host and his wife argues over answers to questions and "facts", yep, super professional.

The next insult is that the entire quiz night is based on a point system. That system is furthermore part of an extended "competition". But be warned if you win one particular night, you will get penalised thousands of points because you won on your previous visit. I mean, seriously? What sort of f'd up system is that?

But the great news is that IF you buy a beer tower, you gain extra points (1000 points) to add to your overall score. Too bad for those people on small teams, too bad for those that have to go to work that evening and can't get smashed.

It seems like the hotel is more than happy to encourage IRRESPONSIBLE drinking but the contestants don't get extra points for buying meals!!!

Poorly run quiz night and blah-blah "on the spot" prizes. The host should be sacked.

The food is pretty damn...

My Bar at the Hilton serves up quality food, friendly service, and a lively weekend vibe, great spot for a meal and a drink. We dropped in on a busy Saturday night with a group of four and lucked out getting a table thanks to a no-show, and we’re glad we did.

Food (4.5/5): We ordered two poke bowls, a chicken schnitzel with surf and turf, and a chicken parmigiana. Every dish was spot on. The poke bowls were especially good… fresh, vibrant and full of flavour. The mains were generous and nicely cooked, really solid pub-style meals done well.

Service (4.5/5): Despite the rush, the staff were friendly, attentive, and kept things running smoothly. You could tell they were busy, but they still made time for everyone.

Atmosphere (4/5): Good buzz and energy, typical of a popular weekend spot. It was pretty loud, but not unbearable, just lively.

Overall: Great food, great service, and a fun vibe. Perfect for a relaxed night out with friends or family if you don’t mind a bit of background noise.
