I was so excited to come here for my sisters birthday as it looked like a great space and had such great reviews! I called prior to making a booking, which I had to do online by the way? As the lady on the phone say she couldn't take my booking, I called to make sure that the cafe had Gluten Free options as one of the customers that was going to dine was celiac. They lady on the phone was very kind and said that of course they could offer Gluten Free alternatives, most things on the menu could be done Gluten Free even the fries could be cooked in a pan for the burgers on the menu. When we got there I thought it might be a good idea to double check what the items were Gluten Free on the menu so I could relay them to the GF person with us. In the cafe the waitress said to us the only GF items on the menu were the salads and the burgers. Even though this was disappointing as we were told otherwise the person said she didn't want a salad but was happy with a burger. So when she went up and ordered a burger. At the counter she was told then that the chips couldn't be done Gluten Free? Even though we were told on the phone that chips specifically could be. So she ended up ordering a tofu burger on GF bread. A waitress then came to the table and said they were out of GF bread but they could turn the tofu burger into a salad. When she received her salad however, there was no tofu and didn't look like the same ingredients on the burger. After enquiring, the tofu was brought on a side plate. This alone was super disappointing. On top of this, little things got forgotten on our orders like sauces and stuff that we paid for. No one seemed really bothered by our order being stuffed up so much. The staff weren't rude, but didn't really seem to care that all these mistakes were made. I think the most disappointing thing though was that we were set up with expectations that then weren't met. If the cafe isn't truly GF friendly then why tell us it was. It would have been better for us to have booked somewhere who actually could cater for a celiac rather than us being super disappointed when the only real option on the day was a salad. Safe to say, I won't be...
Read moreI’m never one to speak up or complain but I was a little upset by my experience today. Waited a couple of minutes to be acknowledged when walking in with multiple glances from staff until a waiter seated us - very understanding the place was busy. After being seated we waited a longer while very patiently as this was our first time here. I politely stopped a different waiter (may have been the owner) and asked for menus when someone had a free moment. He snapped back quite abruptly saying that menus were all online due to Covid and to order at the counter. I completely understand these are unprecedented times, but it would have been nice to be acknowledged nicely and there is a way to say things respectfully. Each cafe is different and I have been to some recently still with hard copy menus. The waiter who seated us originally was very polite and I could see he was under a lot of pressure but he should have explained this to us - we weren’t to know being first time customers. We realised after that all of the other tables had signage to explain the online menu system - ours happened to be the only one missing it. Overall the food, coffees and atmosphere was great, but was really quite embarrassed to be spoken to in that manner so loudly in front of other customers who also heard. Particularly as I was very patient and am always very polite when asking as I hate to bother staff. I completely understand that Sunday’s are prime time and staff are flat out, but customer service is such a fundamental aspect of a cafe, more important than the...
Read moreWe are so sad. We used to love going to Komodo Cafe as a family, but today was our first time back after the new management and I am sad to say I don’t think we will be returning.
We had several issues with our order… no hot chips were available, apparently they were ‘sold out’. With Coles Supermarket literally 350m down the road I don’t think this is acceptable. They were also ‘sold out’ of Turkish bread.
The chicken burger was an absolute joke. 2 tiny off cuts of chicken, the largest amount of mayonnaise I’ve ever seen put on a burger, a very small amount of green salad and that’s it for $20!
On the child’s size order of pancakes I requested chocolate syrup as the topping. It was delivered to the table with a big scoop of berry jam… obviously made by someone who doesn’t understand you don’t mess with kids pancakes. My daughter would only eat the chocolate syrup side of the pancakes not the berry jam mess side…
They used to do a really lovely wilted spinach with their tofu scramble, but the wilted spinach today was very oily and kind of bruised looking.
The eggs in my Love Shak were not cooked properly - I just ate around the raw egg white. The 2 pieces of rye bread that accompanied the eggs were the smallest end pieces of bread!
We were all very disappointed and are now on the look out for a new cafe in Prospect. It’s such a shame because we have always loved the atmosphere at...
