The blonde waitress ‘Aly’ treated us so poorly. I’ve genuinely never experienced someone acting so rude unprovoked before I was so shocked and uncomfortable. My partner and I made and online table booking for 2pm on Christmas Eve. When we arrived we were ‘greeted’ (and I use that very loosely) by the blonde waitress who told us in the rudeness manner that if we weren’t aware they were closing early at 3 that day. She barely greeted us and pointed us to a table staring ‘you can sit over the there’ with such disgusting attitude. After we sat down she then came up behind my partner and reminded us again that they were closing at 3, rolling her eyes as she walked away. The blonde girl cam back to our table with our coffees practically yelling back my order at me, I couldn’t believe the way she was speaking to me. Mind you we had been friendly and not provoked her in any way. I was so uncomfortable at this point and contemplated leaving but our food was on its way. She then came back to our table with our food order. Rather than clearing our coffees from the table first she spoke to me as if I was a child telling by me to lift up the tray my chai latte was on so she could put down my food and take the tray away. Had she asked this in a normal manner it would have been okay but the way she spoke to me was so patronising and condescending. I didn’t even touch my food before asking the other brunette waitress to bring us takeaways containers as I felt too uncomfortable to stay there any longer. Please pass on the message to your waitress that it does not take a lot to be kind to people especially around this time of the year. I don’t know if she was going through something that day or is generally such a mean spirited person. If we wanted to be treated like that we would have gone to Karen’s Diner. I’ve never experienced this kind of unprovoked rudeness at a cafe ever especially to on any of the establishments in Prospect road. Tell your waitress to do better. If she thinks that is an appropriate way to act she is in the...
Read moreWhat an awful, rude place this has become. I took my elderly mother in there this morning and the little blonde waitress could not have been ruder, less friendly or more dismissive if she tried. We ordered a coffee a chai latte for mum and a few pieces of toast. They served a cold chai latte, and an ok coffee, but took an eternity to deliver the toast and when it finally arrived it wasn’t actually toast at all, but rather two pieces of un-toasted, hard, dry, moderately warm bread. I asked if they could toast the bread to which they agreed with a scowl, and after taking them back for about 15-20 minutes, they eventually delivered the exact same pieces of bread, but harder, drier and significantly less appealing (if that was possible) than before. My mum tried buttering and biting into one of the pieces but it was like a brick, completely inedible and almost shattered her teeth in the process. I mentioned this when leaving to which I received no apology, just more rude scowls from the waitress, “chef” and barista. I visit my mum who lives around the corner from Cotto, from Victoria a few times a year and we’ve often gone to this same cafe but have never encountered such poor treatment before, either they’ve changed management, the place is just in terminal decline, or both. For God sake, we just wanted a few bits of nice toast and a coffee, hardly too difficult. We’ll never be back...

Had a fantastic lunch at Cotto on Prospect Road. The menu looked amazing, and the experience lived up to expectations.
The staff were polite, attentive, and happy to offer advice on different menu options. Service was smooth, and the meals arrived quickly.
You can tell from the photos that the presentation was top-notch, but the taste was even better. Both meals were delicious, and I couldn’t pass up the unique combination of waffles, spicy fried chicken, pickles, bacon, egg, and maple syrup. Never seen anything like it—had to try it, and I’m glad I did!
Drinks were great too. The iced latte was perfectly cold and refreshing, especially on a 40-degree day. I was keen to try the cold brew, but it wasn’t ready yet—understandable since it takes 1–2 days to brew, and the beans had only just arrived that morning from a local roaster. Something to look forward to next time!
Loved that the menu featured local produce, which really added to the quality and freshness of each dish. Was told the menu is being updated in the next month or so which is both a shame and exciting to see what comes next.
The steady stream of patrons—business meetings, locals reading the paper, and groups of friends and family—shows this place is a go-to for a casual lunch. I imagine it gets packed on weekends.
Highly recommend. Will...
