Montagna Cafe Greeted us with friendly and attentive staff with a warm and cozy atmosphere.
We started with Arancini Balls(special) and Wedges. Wedges were great, crisp, fluffy and seasoned well. Aracini Balls themselves lacked flavour and both my wife and I wanted a bit more from the risotto inside however the creamy garlic sauce they came with was fantastic and I made sure that plate was clean. A little more salt/mushrooms or time will make this an ace in the hole.
Moving onto mains is when it started to drop. My Wife had the Montanga Calzone and enjoyed it throughly, the base was deliciously chewy and the fillings plentiful and fresh. I found the rose sauce a bit too sweet but My Wife loved it.
The tuscan supreme pizza and Barramundi were on my side of the table. The tuscan pizza had a great balance of the salty anchoives and the sweet prawns however the addition of ham made it taste cheap and like the ham and cheese pizza i'd get in bulk as a child.
Barramundi needed more seasoning and whilst cooked well (crisp skin, flakey flesh) just didnt have the taste I was looking for and have had better elsewhere. Unfortunately the accompanied hollandaise did not taste creamy, eggy nor seasoned but instead just of whipped butter.
TLDR; Staff and atmosphere is great Starters and Entrees where pretty good Calzone was good according to my wife. Pizza is fast food styled going for quantity over quality Fish may be frozen tasted like it had been poached...
Read moreHave been coming to this Cafe loyally for well over 10 years. Unfortunately under new ownership it's gone downhill rapidly. Every time visiting now is a new issue. Ranging from 50min wait for a Bacon and egg roll, staff being dishonest passing off new smaller mugs for "same size" coffees, food quality is hit and miss, actual Cafe itself now seems to have so many issues. We were told blinds couldn't be opened for fresh air as they were broken... heaters, "not working". Lights out front, "not working". Sitting out front in darkness. One night came in for dinner and the smell of gas was so overwhelming my 70yo mum & I needed to sit outside in 7° weather (without heating). Indoor lights flickering like strobe lights for nearly 2 weeks, not fixed, and every time new staff and seem to have absolutely no idea about anything when asked about something simple. Drinks seem to be out of stock regularly, last visit couldn't even order one simple drink from the girl behind the counter as another staff appeared to be talking her through what she was doing OVER the top of me trying to order. I was asked to repeat myself four times only to keep getting talked over each time?? Just for everything to be out of stock, and then the replacement she offered didn't even know what it was. So frustrating and awkward nearly just gave up and left. Would be really disappointing to see this Cafe go under,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood is generally nice and pretty reasonably priced. Staff are friendly but their management of table orders is pretty ordinary. The last few times we have dined here, our meals have all come out at different times. Today was particularly bad with the first meal coming out ten minutes before anyone elseās, then one meal being sent to another table. Half an hour after the first meal came out we enquired about the last meal we were waiting on. The waitress informed us it had been sent to another table and another would be out soon. The remaining meals were finished by this point so we asked for a refund. Another staff member came out to give us our money back and apologised but did not sound very sincere. If they just kept table orders all together perhaps everyone could get their meal at the same time and eat together, as is generally desired when you choose to eat out with family...
