I will never come back here!

I made a reservation with my friends for my birthday, so we were dressed nice and willing to spend money. We started off with ordering entrees, and whilst we were eating, the manager/supervisor came to our table. I thought he would've asked how our food was going so far, yet I was astounded when he told us, "You need to hurry up and order your mains as we need to reset this table for 7:30pm". I was dumbfounded. My mouth was full of food, so I did not have time to reply, but I was also so caught off guard. I remember checking the time and it was only 6:14pm. Furthermore, the restaurant was empty, so I do not understand what the rush was. Once we had finished our entrees, we were waiting about 20 minutes for someone to take our order. The staff members looked at us and ignored us when we politely called out to them. I had to approach them MYSELF and ask for them to come to our table. At this point, I was furious.

We then ordered stakes and expensive dishes (I still don't know why we were still willing to spend money at this point). The mains tasted average, but for the price and portion sizes, it was not worth it. We were not once asked how our meals were going and we felt like all the staff members were rushing us out of the restaurant as they kept trying to clear our plates whilst we were still eating. Furthermore, there was a table of men sitting behind us and we could hear the manager talking and laughing with them - giving them exceptional service while we were treated like unwanted customers. Other than the constant rudeness from the other waitresses, when we asked for the bill, they had charged us for an entree we did not even order??? We told them that we did not order it, and the waitress tried to gaslight us and say that we did. Thankfully, my friend stood up for the rest of our table and the waitress ended up removing it off the bill... rightfully so. Maybe the staff members thought that because we were younger females, they could have taken advantage of us. Unfortunately, I do not know, and do not have an explanation for how they treated us. Our bill ended up being over $250 so they should've treated us like valuable paying customers.

I work in hospitality, so I know especially, that this customer service was inexcusable. Regardless, it is basic human decency to be kind to people - let alone customers. For this reason ALONE, I would never come back nor recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Extremely disappointed and sad this was our experience for my...

✨ A Feast for the Senses at @gauchosadelaide ✨*

Last night, I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Gauchos Adelaide, a true gem in the heart of the city. From the moment I walked in, the warm, rustic ambience wrapped around me, setting the stage for an unforgettable culinary journey.

🥩 Rib Eye & Striploin: A Carnivore's Dream 🥩

We started with their Rib Eye and Striploin—two cuts of beef that were nothing short of extraordinary. The Rib Eye was beautifully marbled, with a rich flavour that melted in my mouth. Cooked to perfection, it had that delicate balance of tenderness and a slight char that only comes from expert grilling. The Striploin was equally impressive, boasting a robust flavour with a perfect crust on the outside and juicy, tender meat on the inside. Gauchos truly knows how to honour the art of grilling, and these steaks were a testament to their craft.

🥟 Empanadas & Calamari: Perfect Starters 🦑

Next up were the Empanadas and Calamari—ideal starters to whet the appetite. The Empanadas were golden parcels of delight, with a perfectly flaky crust and a rich, savoury filling that was bursting with flavour. Each bite transported me straight to the streets of Argentina. The Calamari was another standout, with a crispy exterior that gave way to tender, succulent squid. Paired with a zesty dipping jam sauce, it was a match made in heaven.

🍮 Crème Brûlée: A Sweet Finale 🍮

And just when I thought the experience couldn’t get any better, we were presented with their Crème Brûlée for dessert. The caramelized sugar on top provided the perfect crack as my spoon dug into the creamy, velvety custard beneath. It was the ideal way to end the meal—light, yet indulgent and bursting with the perfect amount of sweetness.

🍷 Wine & Atmosphere: The Perfect Pairing 🍷

To complement the meal, we enjoyed a glass of their Argentinian malbec wine, which boasted a strong flavour that enriched the profile of the steaks.

Thank you...

Having had a bad experience at a different steak restaurant in Adelaide, we were still looking for a great night out where steak was on the menu. Was recommended Gauchos by a friend and a quick look at the menu and their wine list I knew we had to try it.

As it was a special night for the two of us, I approached Joe a couple of weeks before our booking and asked if he and his staff could help me make it a special night. They did so in spades and from the time we arrived I couldn’t wipe the smile off my partner’s face.

Our hardest decision was what to order when there were so many great choices.

We started with some olives and melted cheese with chilli followed by a sirloin for her and a t-bone for me. The starters were high quality and the cheese was really first rate, it will be a go to dish for next time.

The steaks were sensational. Being a Tassie boy who has access to some of the best beef in the country was so impressed with the aged t-bone. As the knife went into the fillet it cut like butter. The sirloin was similar with just enough bite to make it memorable. Her sirloin was similar but the 300g steak did beat her.

The waiting staff had the perfect combination of professionalism whilst being friendly and approachable.

The atmosphere was vibrant with groups dining, many celebrating birthdays, but everybody appearing to be loving their meals. Boisterous conversations became quiet tables as they devoured their meals. It is always a great sign where conversations are swapped for quiet eating, and people passing samples of their dishes to their friends and families.

As we were leaving we have already planned our next dinner but this time it will need a bigger table.

Their wine list has some great wines which are reasonably priced. What could be a better combination than a steak here being washed down with a bottle of Rockford wines and they have many on their list.

Now my favourite restaurant in Adelaide and we will...

This is my all-time favourite dinner spot in the city. Everything I’ve tried here has been absolutely delicious, from the savoury dishes to the desserts, wine, and cocktails. Their specials are always impressive too. It’s also a great place for kids, with a thoughtful and tasty menu, which really matters to me. Here are some of my must-try picks: • Entree: Try the scallops if you like something light and sweet with a touch of savoury. But if you’re after something bold and warming, the Del Diablo Oysters are a better choice. They come with a generous sauce and the oysters are a good size. • Main: The porterhouse steak has a beautiful flavour and is perfectly cooked. The spice-roasted pork belly with chilli caramel and special sauce is a standout. The crispy skin barramundi with roast capsicum gazpacho, burnt tomato, and pickled chilli is also a mouthwatering option, especially on a chilly night. • Dessert: You can’t miss the berry crème brûlée and the dark chocolate ganache baked dessert. They're hands down some of the best sweets in the city. • Drinks: I really enjoyed the Penfolds Bin 389 red wine and their margarita. The service is always lovely, and the restaurant has a beautiful setup. If you prefer a quieter dining experience, I recommend asking for a table in the back room.
