After many years, Wasai has been very consistent with their food and service.

The price of their food is good. Expect to pay about $60-$70 for two people. Which I think is a good price as you will leave Wasai with a full stomach.

As many of the other reviews suggest their Aburi Salmon Roll is the BEST in Adelaide. I've tried other Japanese Restaurants and they are not as good as Wasai. Their selection of Sashimi is large, ranging from Salmon Toro and the Sashimi set on the Sushi Boat(if you are really hungry) is a great accompaniment with the fresh oysters and scallop!

The Beef Tataki is a treat. Their sauce and seasoning for the dish is great and thinking about it makes my mouth water.

My next recommendation would be the Tori-Mayonnaise Chicken. Although I'd wish the service of chicken would be larger for a main dish, the chicken itself is always tasty and is best to eat while hot and fresh.

Sukiyaki, the beef soy based soup hot pot with an extra serve of Udon is delicious for those noodle lovers.

I recently noticed that they have taken the Spicy Pork Ramen off their menu which is a bit disappointing as sometimes I'd like to go in for a quick eat at Wasai and go..

Overall, Wasai has got to be one of the top Japanese Restaurants located in the South Australia and they never disappoint!

I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits South Australia and loves...

Table of 3, 2 veg 1 non-veg. Took a good 10mins before being able to order. Had to ambush an employee for service. This was an ongoing issue through the night, trying to get a servers attention.

Ordered a Miso Soup, Agedashi Tofu, Veg Udon and Veg Soba. Non-veg ordered a Katsudon.

Miso came out almost immediately but was on the colder side. Katsudon came out about 15 minutes after ordering. 20 minutes passed so we enquired about our food as 3 tables that were sat down and ordered after us had already recieved their meals. The server went to the back kitchen and came back to say she did not know why it was taking so long but the kitchen 'should be' cooking the food now. The Soba, Udon and Agedashi Tofu came out about 40 minutes after ordering. By now one person had already finished their meal and just sat there watching us eat.

Food was OK, serving was tiny. I was still hungry after I finished but did not want to waste more time or money.

Will not go back and would...

I had a great solo dinner at Wasai and was impressed by the whole experience. The restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated with Japanese art, and the soft 80s city pop music playing in the background adds a relaxed, nostalgic vibe. It was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night—by 6:40 pm, people were already waiting for tables.

The food was solid overall. The sashimi was fresh, though the slices were on the thinner side. The tempura stood out—light, crisp, and full of flavour. I finished with the tofu donuts, which were subtly sweet—not super sweet, which some may like but wasn’t quite to my taste. They also gave me complimentary edamame, which was a nice touch, though slightly soft.

I had a glass of sake to complement the meal, and all up it came to $80. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Would happily return, great for a solo dinner or a relaxed night out with friends, though it is on the...

It was good to return to Wasai again. After They are a reliable Japanese restaurant to go to with a menu that includes Vegan options. When I made my reservation, I put in the note that someone dining with us is Vegan and they provided a Vegan menu. +1⭐️ We had the tuna sashimi from the specials menu. It was fresh and sliced well. Also from the specials menu was the grilled Mackerel which I enjoyed very much. The medium Sashimi and Sushi boat was generous and priced well for 2 people to share. We also had the grilled squid which was grilled to perfection - it was tender and sweet. The beef tataki was beautifully sliced thinly with a light sauce and combined with the fresh sliced red onion, it was delicious. +3⭐️ Our Vegan friend had a bowl of hearty soba noodles that came with a plate of tempura vegetables. It was enjoyed. +1⭐️ One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Adelaide.

2024 Update: Still one of the best and freshest sashimi in town. Wasai renovated last year and the the restaurant has smaller floor area but everything from the food to the service is still absolutely spot on! My sister loled the beef gyudon, but the curry katsu was the best don we had tonight. The beef tataki was perfect. Agedashi tofu always good, and tried the eggplant dish this time. I like how the eggplant peel is removed making a softer texture. The sashimi and sushi boat was enormous and well-presented. Easily fed our table of seven people. So delicious! Oishi! The rest of the food quickly disappeared so I didn't get a chance to take photos of the mixed tempura, seafood-tofu-enoki soup, agedashi tofu, grilled chicken and potato salad, and cold vegetable and soba salad. Everything was so good! Definitely recommend this place.
