Gilbert's is a quaint eating-hole in the heart of Dulwich. On this occasion we had the Kimchi-eggs with Avocado relish. The eggs were perfectly seasoned with the right amount of kimchi such that their was an appropriate hint of spiciness to this dish without it being over powering. Great flavours all round. As an avocado lover, I would have preferred a bit more avocado, but hey, wouldn't we all. The small avocado pieces were lovely to bite on in the relish that adorned the kick eggs.. I had a hot chocolate, which I would highly recommend. The chocolate-iness really was great, again not too much, not too little. A lovely milk chocolate, with dark chocolate powder on top, and best of all, two marshmallows on the side, one pink, one white! We sat in a side room which was perfectly heated with a low table-side, gas heater. It looks as though there is also a small space out back for eating, however this was closed off today. The wait staff were incredibly friendly and waited on us enthusiastically, and their timing for everything was perfect.

It’s 7.30am and freezing cold but when you walk in the door you feel such a warm welcome. Early in the morning there was just the lovely lady owner doing everything including baking, making coffee, preparing breakfast and chatting to customers calmly, efficiently and it seems effortlessly. Great coffee and great toastie too! We’ll be back :)

Gorgeous place, eggs benny, hot chocolate, and desserts. The brownies were to die for, I can’t wait to come back for more 🤩❤️ Kylie is an absolutely gorgeous person and host, she brings so much joy to the cafe

Love eating here. We just put 50000km on the car travelling round australia and we have come to one conclusion. All other breakfasts are just disappointing. Sure we have found good food in places, but there always seems to be something missing.

Ricky the chef at Gillberries seems to be the master at layering, you know adding the right amount of hollandaise or giving you home made tomato chutney, serving sides of home made beans and even doing those special touches like adding herbs to my scrambled eggs (just because he knows I like it).

The attention to detail shows in the lunch menu also. It's great to go to a cafe see the specials board knowing that the food was crafted to suit the best seasonal produce. My wife and I both love this place and dearly miss it when we're off travelling.

Oh, and don't forget to check out Kylie's little orange and almond cakes. Just make sure you leave some...

My husband and I only recently discovered this local treasure and we are now adding this to one of our favourite places to go. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, fresh beautifully presented, but the coffee is also very good (and we are fussy). The owners and staff are so friendly and welcoming and I would highly recommend you visit this little gem. You definitely...
