Love this park which is huge 😍. It is well maintained with lots of different walking and cycling tracks as well as exercise equipment scattered throughout. There is also plenty of signage around explaining the history of the park as well as its flora and fauna. There are beautiful wetlands with trails and board walks at the southern end. There is a cafe near the heritage listed grandstand and two toilet blocks. There is a variety of seating throughout. The park is dog friendly, however, be aware that there are areas where the dog needs to be on a lead. It appeared to me during my visits that this rule is not adhered to nor monitored which is a shame. It's a wonderful oasis for birdlife. Parking is easily available along Fullerton Rd and Wakefield Street etc.

Victoria Park / pakapakanthi (Park 16) is probably the largest park in the green belt around Adelaide. Here's the first Racecourse in Adelaide. Broad lawn, small forest and there is a stream in the forest, living a lot of birds. Sweet track has many fitness facilities. People of almost all ages can rest, walk, jogg, bike, exercise etc here. It's also convenient to park around. This is a wonderful park.

Victoria Park is one of Adelaide’s true treasures. I love walking the dogs there and enjoying the open space, especially with the addition of the new water features. They’re not only beautiful but also a thoughtful improvement, helping the ducks thrive and managing flooding in the area. It’s a space that genuinely feels like it’s for everyone—dogs, people, and wildlife alike.

What’s less great is the annual car race. The state government bowing to pressure from oil companies means months of disruption with workers setting up temporary stands, taking over carparks, and frankly, trashing the place. It feels completely out of step with the park’s purpose and the city’s environmental goals. Moving the race out of Adelaide altogether—funding buses to transport fans to a dedicated site—would be a much better solution. It’d be cheaper, friendlier to the environment, and would keep this incredible space intact for everyone to...

This sprawling open parklands has walking, biking, roller skating, dog walking, sports fields and occasionally major events there.

Parking is relatively easy unless there is an event but you can park on either of four sides and more.

Several cafes with excellent facilities are on site including the heritage Grand Stand Precinct with the Velo-Precinct with its indoor child play cafe and gym.

Sitting on the Grandstand is a great way to view the parks or get some exercise on the stairs with an interesting historical angle with this being the stand used during the horse racing era there.

All of the Parklands surrounding Adelaide are connected with the bike path and general trails so this is a super spot to base yourself for a cycling experience and...
