Came to Harvest of India tonight for a catch up dinner with some friends, reserved a table for 4 people, 2 of us were early, the second we walked in the door, the young girl greeted us and showed us to our table, within seconds asked us if we wanted a drink, in which we did we orederd two drinks, while waiting on our other two friends to arrive, another one of our friends arrived and the girl was quick to ask her if she wanted a drink! Our other friend was running 5 minutes late, the second our last friend arrived, the girl had approached the table and asked if we wanted to order, we stated we hadn't even looked at the menu yet, she said Ok walked off and came back within about 5 minutes and asked again, by this stage I was finding her to be very pushy. Anyway we ordered and asked the young girl are we able to pay separate at the end in which she stated we could. So we ordered.. The young girl rushed passed us and said goodbye, obviously quick to get out of work! The food came out within great time and was fantastic, which is more than I can say for the customer service, some of us were still eating when another girl came to clear our table, being pushy and quite rushed. We sat and finished our drinks and had a chat and when we came to pay the, guy who I believe is the owner stated we could not split the bill and had to pay in total! I said well I checked this with the young girl who rushed out of here after taking our order and she said it was ok. he gave me a total bill in which was not even our order and HANDED ME A CALCULATOR and said we could work out what we owe, individually. I gave him back the bill and told him he had given us the wrong bill for starters and unfortunately, I won't be dividing up the bill. He argued the fact it couldn't be done. I said yes it can and alot of restaurants do it, he said no noone does it anymore, I said I been to more fancy restaurants then this and believe me, they split the bill, In the end after arguing for about 5 minutes, he ended up splitting our bills. And keep in mind we were the ONLY CUSTOMERS in the RESTAURANT, it was not like they were run off their feet! Worst custome service I have ever received to the point the owner / manager handed me a CALCULATOR. We will not be coming back and will be letting everyone we know about our experience. ABSOLUTELY 💯 PERCENT disgusting. Should have noticed after dining here that my table and one other table of two people were in the restaurant, on a Friday night which I think speaks volume. Oh and not to mention, the restaurant hours are closing time of 9.30 as were outside still having a chat when they closed up the restaurant at 9.18pm. I believe we were treated this way as they wanted to close up and leave.
P.s to the rude arrogant owner, it was not over a can of coke, we all orederd something different, hence the reason we asked to pay separately.
Loved how on my Facebook inbox you threatened to take legal action against me, you have cameras in your restaurant, if this is the case, let's hope they work!
And if I could share ur Facebook response on here with a...
Read moreThe owner/manager mistakes his unkindness for being normal in the hospitality industry. It's not normal to treat anyone terribly, let alone your employees.
You can still encourage your employees without being nasty to them. Its no wonder you're understaffed if you're treating your staff like that. Also being understaffed is maybe a valid reason for wait times, but its not a valid excuse for poor service, particularly from the owner/managers.
This restaurant used to be our favourite indian food in the area but even the quality of the food has worstened recently, my mother has also noticed this as she used to love this restaurant as well but no longer orders from here.
Even the way you respond to genuine feedback is disgusting. Negative feedback is important because it helps you improve you business, but instead of apologising and taking the feedback on board, you double down and call people impatient and make excuses. I even saw that you were threatening people on Facebook, all over a review!!
You need to grow up and learn to accept critisim, even if you don't think its valid. Do some management training and learn how to approach your employees with empathy and respect, and maybe you'll find that things start to improve for your business as a whole.
If you can't do that then maybe hospitality ownership isn't for you.
Also buyer beware: they get their staff to ask their friends and family to give 5 star reviews to buff...
Read moreHave been going to this restaurant for about 10 years. Last nights meal was very disappointing. Vegetarian platter for 2 was very nice however our main courses of Beef Bombay & Prawn Malai lacked flavour & quality. The beef in the bombay was full of grissle & was tough! Potatoes were cold & could have done with a bit more cooking through. Prawn malai was basically a tasteless gravy with a couple of shrimps thrown in. They were clearly busy & did advise, after they bought out our entree, that there was a long wait on main courses, so we waited patiently for those. While eating our mains, the waitress asked how our meal was but before I could answer, we were quickly asked if we’d like another drink. The young & new waitress was clearly doing her best on a busy night. Big turn over of waiting staff here and after hearing how the owner talks to his staff, that doesn’t surprise me. When we ordered an alcoholic drink each, waitress advised that both of the waitresses couldn’t get the drinks as were under age so they would have to get someone else to do those. So we patiently waited. However, noticed after the initial drink that the girls were actually preparing the drinks behind the bar & someone else brought them to the table. In hindsight, would have been better staying home for a sausage sizzle! Won’t...
