Last night was date night. My boyfriend and I went to the Golden Fleece hotel for a nice warm meal. It started with some pretty rude service to book ourselves a table over the phone. When we arrived they were basically carrying out the same level of rudeness again, telling us to find table 12 but there were no numbers on the table. Gee Thanks. Okay ..asked again, found our table, sat down. There was literally 1 girl that was lovely, all the others had a terrible attitude. It’s a lovely set up very welcoming and cute.(a little too loud, but I think we got unlucky with the groups we were surrounded by) We had a look through the menu there’s an average variety of food as you’d expect at a pub. We order the $12 house dips for our entrees. I Do not recommend this. The dips were very average one of them was quiet untouchable and tasted nothing like any type of human food. I think it was meant to be hommus? But very decent serving I was barely hungry after that, the pita bread was alright. Our mains came almost as soon as we finished the entree. I order the Barossa meats pizza as I LOOVVEEE my Barossa meats and my boyfriend had the $38 Rump steak. He absolutely loves steak. I don’t think in his eyes you could ever go wrong with a steak. When serving up the steak, the rudest girl there basically hit my boyfriend in the face with the plate. After which her tone got slightly nicer but not a hint of an apology. His not one to complain but for a $38 steak you expect to not be hit with it. I thought it was very burnt and not very nice but he finished it in under 4 mins. Because he loves steak. My pizza on the other hand.... the main ingredient was parsley followed by onion.. not as much of the expensive Barossa meats meat as I had hoped. I was honestly disappointed. All I could taste was parsley. ITS MEANT TO BE A GARNISH NOT AN INGREDIENT. Over all very disappointed. If the price was cheaper I think I wouldn’t be so frustrated but at their prices I expect a quieter, friendlier and more delicious result. That being said I am typing up this review whilst snacking on last nights leftovers so it’s not disgusting, just disgustingly priced. The servings are very decent sizes though. Didn’t expect to pay $100 for such an average meal and 1 drink each. Still enjoyed my date night. 😌

Decided to go out for dinner as we were hungry and didn't want to drive 30 minutes home to then make dinner. We waited 45 minutes for our meals. Mine was the alleged angel hair pasta, which was spaghetti no.7.. While annoying, the real.issue I have is the size of my portion. This cost me $34 for the alleged angel hair pasta with crab. I have been to countless places and had my kids get children's meal pasta dishes that were bigger than this, and for the amount of crab that was in there, it definitely wasn't worth $34. I've had similar dishes where I've had more crab in there, the portion size was more than adequate to the point where I've shared my meal with the eldest, and it's been cheaper. My plate was that small it took me around 5 minutes to eat and now I have to wait for my family to finish up before driving 30 minutes home and cooking after having a long day.and not wanting to cook. I could have gone home and saved $120 and given my 4 year old dinosaur nuggets there and not been charged $15 for them. Won't be coming back. My advice is try elsewhere and get better value for yourself l. Or cook at home.

So unfortunate that this place has gone further downhill since my last visit. When they first renovated this establishment looked great. This visit the place wasn't very busy yet the floor and tables were filthy, staff just chatting amongst themselves rather then cleaning soiled tables. These 6 tables remained uncleaned the entire time we were there and one couple who came actually sat down and cleared and cleaned there own table, pretty disappointing. The food was well cooked and well plated but its obvious the quality of ingredients and produce have drastically dropped since my last visit, Unfortunately the prices are still on the higher side for a venue of this type . Such a shame as there food was there saving grace last time. Unfortunately we will not be coming back to eat here again.

We visited the Pizza Baa on a Saturday night to pick up a phone order.

Initially, the contact number on the online menu was disconnected so we contacted the main hotel, which created confusion with the staff as to who we should actually speak to.

Once the phone order was set, we made our way in to pickup our order. There was a small line infront of us when we arrived, however we noticed our order of three pizzas sitting there waiting on the counter. It was covered with a swarm of flys walking around the outside of the boxes.

What concerned us even more is that there were customer orders to eat-in, waiting on the same counter, that also had a swarm of flys walking and buzzing around them. The area, regardless of being in an open environment, had no form of inspect traps or repellants implemented by management.

We also witnessed the one female cook using her bare hands on the pizza, then handling cash, cards and other utensils before returning to cook with their bare hands, and even using their hands to press the cheese down onto the pizza. This violates health and safety codes.

When it was our turn to pay, we voiced our concerns about the flys and were told it was normal because it’s so open. We proceeded to pay with card, and were told there was no EFTPOS machine in the Pizza Baa, so the cook/waitress took our credit card and left for two or so minutes before returning with a torn receipt and our card and then continued handling food again with her bare hands. This also presents a financial security risk as it would of been very easy to take down our card number and details whilst she disappeared for that time. I’m sure this did not happen in this instance however it is completely unprofessional.

The food itself was very good, however coupled with the experience, this will be our last time going here. It’s quite a disappointment for us because this business has so much potential.

If they can rectify the above issues, we...

We have been 5 times now for lunch..loved the first couple of times but service is slippling hence my reply..

The guy who took the order at the bar was unhelpful and his tone was dismissive, sorry that i took a minute or two to rethink my second choice im only your customer

Tuesday 11th October no pizzas at all...we wernt told this when i was handed my menu and having had pizza previously its what id come to have which was really disappointing

We ordered T Bone steaks with different toppings but the wait staff didnt know which one was pepper sauce etc meaning 2 out of 3 steaks all got mixed up.The waitress was apologetic ,not her fault but clearly lack of communication between kitchen and floor runners

Drinks order were totally forgotten,we waited for ages as the restaurant was filling up but in the end we had to go to the counter " again." bar service not in sink with restaurant..it was a tuesday lunch not a saturday night Steak knife not delivered with one of the steaks One fork missing in the cutlery container so i had to get up again.May seem like a small petty thing but its a pain, another visit "again" to the counter No dessert menu was offered and i always have dessert but settled for coffee which was ordered again back at the counter We waited ages for the coffees..

All in all another disappointing experience when it shouldnt be.On the positive side Great decor onsite...
