While the setting is nice and the location is convenient we didn't have the best experience at Jarmer's. The food was quite nice. Not amazing but by no means poor. However, for the price I think you can find far better.
The main issue with Jarmer's, that we found, was the service. The staff were not rude but were rather negligent. Our plates sat at our table for a very long time before being cleared. Even the waitress was surprised when she brought over our mains and our entree plates were still in front of us.
It's not unusual but it is frustrating. We were not offered dessert. We would haven ad it if offered. We had heard good things of the vanilla slice; but alas, we shall, sadly, never know.
We were not asked for the bill at any point. Which considering Jarmer's offers all services to the table, was quite disapointing to experience.
Finally, we were still sitting at our table with our main plates in front of us at least 30 minutes after we had finished eating, when, the staff began to set up the tables for the next day and clear off empty tables that still had plates long after customers had left. This was the thing that was most disapointing. We felt ignored. We would have gladly ordered a coffee and a dessert if someone had even acknowledged our presence.
Whilst conversation was flowing at our table it would have been nice for the staff to politely interrupt to offer the final chapter of the service or to ensure customer satisfaction.
We understand that the dinner service ends quite early, in comparison to the rest of the restuarant world, at Jarmer's as they offer breakfast next day. However, if you offer dinner service we feel as if this does not met the required standard. Especially, in an up and coming suburb.
Unfortunately, Jarmer's is not an eatery we will be returning to...
Read moreWell where to start. Just got home from Jarmers kitchen where we went for lunch looking for a good steak. Jarmers kitchen was disappointing. First of all only one steak option on the menu for $60 - ok I will do that as it should be good. Husband also ordered a schnitzel. Ordered food and drinks. Drinks took awhile but ok will take that. After a few mouthfuls of wine noticed a fly floating in it🤢 trying to get the waitresses attention but she was talking with another employee so after a while husband had to get up and interrupt their conversation. Wine was replaced - good. Still waiting for food. We were one of 3 tables of 2 in the restaurant. The table next door received their food even though they arrived after we had ordered our food 🤔 anyway not long after our food arrived - I had ordered med/rare steak - it was med well done to be generous - more on the well done side and chewy!!!! Husband’s schnitzel was a half serve size and paper thin. After getting serving staff attention we returned the steak - they offered to replace it but by this time we couldn’t wait another 45mins for me to then eat on my own. So - no meal for me - half sized schnitzel for my husband. We suggested that perhaps after the fly in the wine, the length of waiting, me not having any meal that it would be reasonable not to have to pay - hmmmm. The 2 stars is for the waitress who after our ordeal did indeed act kind and apologetic - didn’t see the chef who should have had the decency to apologise instead of the wait staff. Terrible disappointing experience - lost for words actually. After all of that I did not eat and left without feeling as though there was any care given about our experience. Definitely do not...
Read moreUnfortunately a mixed review.
The staff when we arrived were friendly. The menu was good and the prices were very reasonable. The mains which come out were great.
The waiter who finalised the account was very rude and unfortunately did ruin the experience. As there we 2 couples and different things ordered/extra drinks etc, I wanted to pay my share of the bill which was more than the only other person paying. The difference wasn't heaps, but I just didn't feel comfortable making the other person pay for my extra drinks when he didn't order any at all.
I asked the waiter politely 'do you mind if we split the bill as I got more to drink'. The waiter immediately abrupt and rude saying 'yeah you can just half the bill can't you?' My friend then just went to pay half of the bill as the waiter was very condescending in the way he stated this and he then preceded to present the eftpos machine to my friend, with half of the price of the bill is the machine.
I was annoyed and said, just charge me an extra $8 and please take it off my friends bill. The waiter didn't reply just snatching the eftpos machine back. I watched him add the extra onto the machine. It honestly took 5 seconds.
The waiter said nothing in response, we paid the bill and left.
Very disappointing end to the nice meal and pleasant dining experience at Jarmers. It may sounds petty but everyone present picked up on what happened and agreed that this waiter was very rude when it...
