Without doubt the worst fast food experience I've ever seen.
Came in at around 12:15 on a Monday for lunch. You'd think that KFC would identify that as a reasonably predictable time for customers and that therefore, there would be chicken being prepared - but you'd be wrong.
We waited 15 minutes for our other lunch buddies to turn up, which doesn't sound relevant, but will be in a few sentences time.
After placing our own order - apparently paying staff to take orders is not possible in 2025 - we started the super enjoyable phase of standing in the cramped part at the front of the store with a growing line of other orders, waiting for our food.
When we asked, 15 minutes in, if it was going to be much longer, we were told they were "so busy, and had sold everything". At this stage, we'd been at the place for more than half an hour and in that "incredibly busy" time, we saw one single car go through the drive-thru, one poor Uber driver waiting more than 20 minutes for his delivery to be ready, a dad with his 3 year-old daughter waiting 20 minutes for what looked like a small popcorn chicken and potato and gravy, and about half a dozen kids on mountain bikes. On the busy-ness scale, it was about a 2.
Given that 'nothing was ready' and it was all in the oven, and that no cars were going through the drive-thru, you'd think at least one of the staff might care enough to come out front, clear, and then wipe down some tables. But guess what - you'd be wrong again! In the 65 minutes we were there, not a single staff member came anywhere near the front of the store. This despite the fact that, by 2025 standards, the cleanliness of the place was nearing grounds for forced closure.
Have a look at the state of the place in these photos. Teenagers are coming in and are forced to sit at tables with multiple bags of rubbish left behind by other customers. Somehow the floor is wet, despite there being no water anywhere near the place. In some ways, it was impressive in how KFC was able to unite people of different ages and backgrounds. People who would normally just get their food and go, were stopping to (loudly) talk to each other about how horrific the service was.
Finally, more than 25 minutes after putting it in, our order - enough for 3 adults and 3 primary school aged kids, not exactly feeding an army - was handed over to us.
And if you thought after all this waiting, in this absolute cesspool, that at least we'd get food at the standard level of KFC competency - you'd be wrong again! Apparently counting out 6 nuggets for a paper bag requires more than one attempt. As does counting out four bottles of apple juice. And to top it off - take a look at how full that freshly-opened 'large' box of chips is.
Truly an abomination in quality, cleanliness, convenience and care, and if you're even thinking of ordering from this place after seeing this, please do yourself a favour and go to at the very least, a slightly further-away KFC; or better yet, any other fast food chain.
KFC will say publicly they're about 'finger-lickin good food' and 'top-notch service' but even a mid-level store manager who cared about either of those things, in even a small amount, would never let their store get to this stage.
EDIT: I've just received a response to this review asking me to 'share a few more details about what went wrong'.
I'd like to think this review is detailed enough and even if it wasn't - I've already submitted a copy of the details to KFC via their website.
I received a call from the store apologising for the experience and telling me that they've 'reviewed their rosters because they were very understaffed'. No admitting whatsoever that they should've done better with the store cleanliness, no offer of remediation for the half-filled chips. So despite what their response to this review says, they're clearly not actually interested in 'turning things around' - just ticking a box that they've responded to a...
Read moreI LOVE KFC!!!!! And this store is the BEST!!!!!!! The managers there are so cool and friendly, and all the staff are amazing. I feel for the workers having to deal with those silly bike kids, they do such a good job to make sure to cater for everyone’s needs and making things clean whenever they get the chance. James Carpenter is such a cool manager, he is always walking around with a big smile on his face and it’s so warming to see (plus he’s bald so he gets extra points) Georgia Watkins is super duper freaking epic as well, she is such a great person and always helps out with packing orders and stuff. Mitchell Lojszczyk is also amazing, plus this guy just got a promotion so that shows how good he is. Austin wood is pretty amazing at his job, always providing high quality chicken no matter the time of day. Stanley Eaton is a crazy hard worker, this guy always exceeds expectations and goes above and beyond. And last but not least… Zarvi Daniel Otto!!! This guy is still a Team Member but he needs to be promoted ASAP! His work ethic is unlike anything else over ever seen before, such a hard working little devil who keeps pushing the standards of what KFC is. Such an amazing team at this store, shoutout to all the other workers too, they all...
Read moreI have never seen such a disgustingly filthy fast food establishment — and that’s saying something. Walking in, it was impossible to find somewhere to sit that wasn’t filthy, both on top of the tables and under. KFC boxes, bags, serviettes, cups and straws strewn everywhere, in addition to pieces of food. In the 60+ minutes we were there, we literally did not see one KFC employee at any stage come out into the seating area, so it continued to get even worse during that time. Another customer commented to us on the way out, ‘this is the worst KFC I’ve ever been to’. And I’ve not even mentioned the near half hour wait for ‘fast food’ which was finally only supplied after being questioned, was wrong, and the large chips was only half full.
On top of this, they will respond to this generically asking me to send an email via their website so that they can ‘sort things out’. They did this for my husband, and all they said to him was that they’ve now addressed the roster — that doesn’t really count as sorting things out...
