Lone Star Rib House & Brews Hawthorn — Restaurant in Adelaide

Having had a good experience last Saturday night, we brought our daughter out for a celebration dinner tonight. . Service was appalling. We waited close to an hour after ordering for any food to arrive, meanwhile watching tables around us who arrived after we ordered, eat their food and leave. It was also very frustrating watching literally dozens of Uber orders get put up, seemingly ahead of dine-in orders. Food was nowhere near on the level it had been on our last visit. It wasn’t until we overheard the hostess offer the two tables next to us free dessert for slow service, (faster than ours) that we asked if ours was also free, at which point we were told it would indeed be complimentary. Unfortunately this did not compensate sufficiently for the impossible task of attracting attention to order drinks, waiting an hour for kids nuggets and chips, and fatty under done ribs. We live locally but will not...

So far, the meats have been great, especially the steaks. They’ve been cooked well and have a nice smoky flavour. Not all dishes are standouts, though. I’ve tried the chicken schnitzel twice, but the batter was too hard both times. The schnitzel from the members lunch menu is on the smaller side, but the fish and chips is decent. Some of the salads have been hit and miss, occasionally missing dressing. Also service feels a bit slow due to only rostering a few staff. During a busy week night, we waited 45min.

The school holiday promotions with free kids meals have been a nice bonus, and the kids meals are a good size. As for the ribs, I prefer the beef over the pork, as the pork can be a bit dry. Prices are on the higher side, but it’s better value when there are...

Responded to an email offer from them for any full sized schnitzel or parmie for $10 by taking the whole family there, only to be told that they would not honour that offer, providing only most basic ones for $10 and rest were $17…. Total catfish…. Never going there again.

Edit: since the owner has responded saying that the are not running a $10 deal, I’ve attached below an image that shows that they DID run one in the past (where my experience stems from). Note it’s specifically says Hawthorn, and specifically says ANY schnitzel or parmie. I booked and attended 8th November 2024. I also sent follow up email of complaint and never even received a reply.
