I’m writing this review to express my deep dissatisfaction and frustration with the way McDonald’s Felixstowe has handled a recent situation involving my friend, Matthew Symons. This review deserves nothing more than a single star, and frankly, I wish there were an option to give zero stars because what happened is beyond unacceptable.
Matthew, who has been a dedicated, hard-working employee at this McDonald’s location, was recently and unjustifiably fired with absolutely no valid reason provided. To say this decision is shocking would be an understatement. It’s hard to believe that a reputable global company like McDonald’s, which prides itself on being “an equal opportunity employer” and a champion of fairness and integrity, would treat one of its loyal employees in such an appalling and unprofessional manner. For a company that preaches about its values of respect, fairness, and equal opportunity in its employment practices, the way they’ve handled Matthew’s situation is nothing short of hypocritical.
Matthew was not just another employee; he was someone who took his job seriously, showed up on time, worked diligently, and contributed positively to the team. He consistently delivered excellent service, maintained a professional attitude, and upheld the standards that McDonald’s claims to value in its employees. There was no incident, no warning, no justification for his termination, and this kind of treatment raises serious concerns about the management practices at this particular branch.
What’s even more troubling is the lack of communication from management throughout this ordeal. When Matthew sought clarification about why he was being dismissed, the responses were vague, evasive, and provided no clear explanation. It feels as though he was being pushed out without cause, which not only damages his reputation but also leaves him in an incredibly unfair and difficult position. For someone to lose their job without any proper reason or formal warning is completely unacceptable in any workplace, let alone one as large and influential as McDonald’s. This isn’t just a matter of poor management; it’s a matter of basic decency and fairness.
This decision reflects poorly not just on the Felixstowe location but on the entire McDonald’s corporation. It brings into question how employees are valued, and how management is trained to deal with sensitive situations like this. It seems that rather than recognizing and rewarding employees for their hard work and dedication, this branch has chosen to go down a path of unfair dismissals and arbitrary decisions. If McDonald’s wishes to maintain its reputation as a fair and respectable employer, it needs to take a hard look at how it handles its staff, particularly at this Felixstowe location.
I am beyond disappointed with how this has unfolded, and I cannot, in good conscience, continue to support an establishment that treats its employees in such a cavalier and unjust manner. Matthew deserves better, and so do all the other employees who put in their time and effort to keep this place running. I strongly urge the higher management of McDonald’s to look into this matter and take immediate corrective action. Firing an employee without providing any legitimate reason is not only unprofessional but also unethical.
I can only hope that McDonald’s corporate team takes this complaint seriously and addresses the wrongful termination of Matthew Symons. Until this issue is resolved and the unfairness is acknowledged, I will not be returning to this McDonald’s, and I encourage others to reconsider supporting this location. You hire young babies to save money and this is what you have. Go somewhere else. Edit: AGAIN. Sat 9/12/23 6.30pm. All the chips missing from my order. Shame! Do a better training to your baby staff. AGAIN MON 25/12/23 7.45pm Grilled chicken wrap missing from the order. Came back and received the fried one. No hope. The manager doesn’t exist here or the one working simply chose the wrong job.

The worst night ever. Ordered with the app. Girls started with the drinks mistake at the window. A lot of confusion inside. No coordination at all. Of course the managing doesn’t exist here anymore since years. Big order. 100 dollars. No car spaces available because Uber Drivers use them. The staff parked me on the disable car park. They allow uber drivers to use the Drive Through car park. After waiting at the car park they came with my order. The staff often doesn’t know even which car which and they try to ask to all of them until they find the good one. A couple of times they gave my order to the car next to me and I had to take it back by myself (thanks God the other car owner was my friend). So, when they send you to a particular car park they don’t know you are waiting for a particular order. They just attempt to find the right one. This is really funny. Tonight I didn’t check unfortunately because I wanted leave the disable car park asap. Went home were missing the whole kids meal plus one of the kids burgers. I’m going back this time. I take my wife with me so she can keep me calm (I hope so). Went there spoke with the manager. Same person controlling this store since 4 years (he said). Oh my God…. Can’t believe I’m really meeting you. So, are you existing? “kids make mistake” was his explanation. Yes, too easy hide himself behind them. Very adult person. Very professional. Read moreThis maccas night staff are sleepy buggers. Every day coming here to pickup Uber orders with drive through in the night time. They ask us to wait in waiting bay and then simply forgets that they did asked someone to wait at bay. Happend many times Every day makes 30 40 mins wait.... Had seen many times that they make the order ready and place it on the counter dont bother coming outside and giving the driver food.sometime we have to knock on thier door to remind them that we are outside or After 30 ,40 mins had to come again through drive to remind them that we are waiting for food pickup....if we say something why are you taking too long they will have no respect for uber drivers bcs we are drivers not your customers. Instead the glyburn road hungry jacks staff are much better they never make drivers wait more then 5 mins.
