Hmm I dont even know where to start to explain the dissatisfaction of Mia Margs We booked in to this place after seeing a instagram post 'taco tuesdays are back, $5 tacos and $25 jugs of sangria', then again today another post was up 'its taco Tuesday, make sure you book' Yep cool! So we did. Arrive tonight and ask the waitress about the sangria, which she has to go check if its being served... weird but okay, comes back and it's actually $35 so we decided on having a single cocktail each, we then ask which tacos are $5, the waitress has to go ask again... comes back and says thats not tonight. So okay, we take a few more minutes to decide and recheck that we are reading the instagram post correctly. Asked another waitress who says "yeh i don't have instagram so I dont know" but still asks the manager. The answer is still no. Even though there was no $5 deal we decided on tacos because ya know, what's why we went. Firstly the "jalapeno poppers" were god awful, we were served 4 huge cream cheese stuffed capsicums! That had no flavour or spicy bite what so ever. The tacos then came and oh boy was I disappointed. The tortilla was soggy and barely held the filling and there was so much mayo smothering the entire thing I couldn't taste anything else. Waiting patiently at the table to possibly order another drink I watched the waitress lean back against the side board with her arms folded looking like she wanted to be anywhere else. After not finishing our disappointing meals we went down stairs to pay. Where we asked the lad serving when taco night actually is. His response was "its tonight we have $5 beef, chicken or veg" to our shock. We asked why the waitresses had told us differently, he said well i just started and yelled across to who we believe was the manager. He abruptly yells back "yeh theres tacos just no discount" . We had already paid our bill so that wasn't the issue, the issue was the confusion from staff and false advertising. As we opened the door to leave the manager yells "its tuesday and we sell tacos". Yes we know, you sell tacos every day.
So the staff were rude and clearly had no idea what was going on. The food was also so awful, I dont like to pull the chef or hospo card but wow, this was some of the worst food I have had to pay money for. The bill coming to $120 was an actually insult and smack in the face. Something needs to change in this venue or you won't be getting booked much longer.
Edit: the instagram post I mention has now been deleted, it seems we weren't the only ones with the same...
Read moreBest words to describe the experience: mayonnaise and poor management - how do you say '$5 Taco Tuesday's are back' on instagram one week, then the next Taco Tuesday means the option fo 13 with no special incentive? The tacos are the same every day - nothing special about that.
We enquired about the taco 'special' when we were seated, waitress wasn't too sure, spoke to her management and was confirmed that tonight taco tuesday wasn't discounted. It seemed like a last minute decision to not have the special price, maybe because they weren't busy?
Confused by that social media post but happy to keep ordering. Cocktails were great. 'Jalapeno' poppers were just small green capsicums stuffed with cream cheese and barely cooked, and an average mayo dipping side.
Taco's came, once again slathered in chipotle mayo but we were fine to continue. Went downstairs to pay, 4 guys totally disinterested in their surroundings barely noticed a customer wanted to pay. One guy noticed none of his colleagues were going to get up and served me. I enquired again about why tonights social media post said taco tuesdays, but not at the same special as it was the week before under the same marketing. He said $5 taco tuesday is for chicken, beef and Veg options, I said that this wasnt communicated to us to which he responded oh I just got here so im not sure what is going on (?!) and asked what i expect was his manager who didnt even look up from his iPad what the go was. Manager with curly blond hair said (without looking up) yep its tuesday and we have tacos - not discounted. Back to my point - that isnt a special to be marketed when its on the menu every.day.
Unfortunately Mia Margarita has a cult following that will come for a good photo op and does not realise when they are being ripped off. When a seasoned hospo worker feels the need to write this type of review, the review one would usually laugh at, something is really wrong.
I hope this isnt one of the reviews that get deleted (or to conveniently have the instagram posts deleted - yes I see you deleting $5 tacos post), and that people will understand that the smoke and mirrors of a pretty venue does not excuse management to treat them like they're idiots who cant put the pieces together.
-- edit, why are there no options for FB...
Read moreWe came here the other night for our anniversary as it was where we had our first date. We weren’t impressed with the food at all. We ordered an entree and just as we started to eat it, our main came to our table. All the tacos we ordered were on seperate plates so there wasn’t any room on the table for them all plus the entree we hadn’t even started eating yet. The waiter literally handed me one of my tacos on a plate because he couldn’t fit it on the table and I was stuck holding one of my tacos in the air while eating part of my entree. The entree wasn’t good. We ordered crispy potato’s and they weren’t crispy. We ate 3 between us and left the rest. My tacos were small and not worth $10 each. They had a total of 5-6 bits of thinnly chopped lettuce and a tiny bit of chicken. We couldn’t believe the size of them. It was a thin peice of chicken, no more than a cm wide. It wasn’t like the photos on other customer reviews or like our first time dinning here. The chicken was easily a quarter of the size of other peoples photos. Most bites was just the wrap. The waiter asked at the end if we enjoyed the food and I was honest and said it was not good and it wasn’t worth the price at all considering how small the dishes were for me. My partners tacos were full and looked nice, and mine were tiny! I also told her the potato’s didn’t taste good and they were soggy, not crispy. She just said sorry and continued to charge us for the full meal, without delving into it more or stating that she will pass the feedback on or anything. Further, within 30-60 minutes of leaving, my stomach starting feeling terrible and I was up all night vomiting and diarrhoea (sorry too much information) so I must have got food poisoning. It’s been 24 hours since our meal and I still feel awful with my stomach in pain - cramping! We will not be returning which sucks as we really enjoyed our first time here but this experience was awful. Apologies for the terrible review, but it was clear that the feedback was not going to be passed on by the waiter and as a business owner myself, I believe that it’s important for business owners to have the feedback so they know where to...
