We found our visit to the restaurant not a pleasing one and a decision maker not to return. Firstly the fried rice was just rice with 3 prawns and half a dozen peas. It was very disappointing. The meals came out loaded with onions and very little of the primary dish. Service staff were short and abrupt and attempted to clear whilst meals were clearly not finished. Obviously staff wanted an early night! Following service delivery, a couple of fortune cookies were tossed on our table and the table beside us. Then vacuuming commenced. Lovely ambiance! Tables were still eating and it was well within opening hours. Having read the reviews, we had high expectations. We left with the opinion that it must have been the staff who had wrote them! For the prices, there are much better Chinese restaurants in...
Read moreMy Yen is like the Chinese restaurants I remember as a kid. Quite daggy with mismatched decor, plastic flowers and a look and style that mabey hasn"t changed since the 80's. In other words GLORIOUS! The service was a little slow at first but I think that was because we were there early and there was only one wait staff member on. It got better as 2 more staff came on. We had the dinner for 2 menu and the food was just delicious. A bit pricier than average but good sized serves (none of this tiny meal on huge plates nonsense) Our prawn dish was perfection and the rest of the meal most enjoyable. Just good honest, well prepared food in a not-at-all-snooty atmosphere. There are a lot of newer places around that could learn a lesson in humbleness from My...
Read moreHave eaten from here quite a few times, tonight's order however was terrible. Black pepper beef tasted like it had no black pepper but instead had tomato sauce on it. Beef kway teow had no wok flavour, or really any flavour. Under seasoned. Salt and pepper pork was ok, honey prawns was ok but prawns were small and batter was falling off. Really the beef and noodles were terrible, main reason I was motivated to write this review. Wouldn't recommend unless they go back to how the flavours were...
