The OG Hotel has been a semi-regular dining spot for many years, whether in small or larger groups, and usually provides a decent pub meal. Tonight was very different We booked a table for 6.30 (12pp) and began ordering just after 7pm when all had arrived. It was steak special night, so of course steak was ordered by several people at the table. However, we were told that the hotel had run out of steak (at 7pm?) so selections were changed. All orders were in by 7.15pm. There was one child eating with us, so we expected their food would come out with the garlic bread (as is usual). It was now 8pm, and there was no sign of food, apart from the garlic bread, and no child meal appeared. At 8.15pm we asked again about our meals, and were told they were coming soon. Still no child meal. Meals started appearing in singles or pairs, but still with many delays. The child with us was so hungry and tired by now that they were falling asleep, and their food (nuggets and chips) didn't arrive until almost all the adult meals had arrived and eaten The quality of the food itself was mediocre at best. A "crispy skin salmon with creamy mash and Hollandaise sauce" yielded a rubbery skin on a thin piece of overcooked salmon, still with bones in (3 large bones found), a barely mashed, lumpy and unseasoned potato mash and a drizzle of sauce. Curries came with mushy rice; dishes with "no salad" requested came with salad. That was just a few of the reviews The wait staff were very apologetic, but it was obvious that the kitchen tonight was utterly disorganised and incapable of producing and sending out decent meals in a timely manner. Other diners near us also had to wait over an hour for their meals. Running out of a weekly special item so early in the evening is ridiculous and unprofessional, and I expect more from the OG...
Read moreWell, where can I start about my meal tonight! Looking for something that wasn’t deep-fried I opted for a Caesar salad and I specifically requested that the lettuce was not drowned in mayonnaise and that the poached egg was soft & gooey rather than hard boiled. . What appeared on my plate was chopped up lettuce drowned in mayonnaise with a semi poached egg which was borderline boiled on to - ugh! I don’t think the kitchen staff member I talked was too happy when I sent it back. I then ordered an entree of dumplings thinking that that might be an alternative. Then quite sometime later a takeaway container of dumplings appeared in front of me. I wasn’t so much fussed about the takeaway container & was happy to eat them except the dumplings were stone cold. So once again I took my meal back to the kitchen & after some more time a plate of hotter dumplings appeared in front of me. At this point, I had truly lost my appetite. The hot dumplings were drowned in what tasted like a soy sauce mayonnaise and i just couldn’t eat them. Whoever is running the kitchen at the OG hotel needs to seriously look at the other options on the menu for those of us who don’t want deep fried food. I suggest the cook or the chef google the recipe for a Caesar salad. Needless to say I will not be returning for a...
Read moreAttend here regularly with a brain injury support group. Had a booking for 20. A large walk in group was seated at the same time. We were forced into the outside area as this walk in group was very rowdy and we couldn’t hear anyone. Waited 75mins for our food. When we queried this wait time they said they were busy and we felt like they prioritised the walk in over our regular group booking. The chef scoffed at our concern over the wait time. When the meals came out they were nearly inedible. There was chewing gum in one of the “clean” napkins. We tried to address all this on the spot but our concerns were brushed off. Phoned on the way home and the Bistro manager was apologetic. Offered us a $150 voucher to come back and let them get it right. She said she was putting it in the mail That day. 7 weeks, 2 Facebook messages and 4 phone calls later we are still waiting. Maybe they think “brain injury group - they will forget” Well we haven’t. And this treatment...
