Had a really disappointing experience at Oar on the 9th. Firstly I attempted to contact them multiple times via the phone number provided but the phone was off. We decided to just rock up and see if there was a table. The girl said they only had tables outside, due to it being cold and I had a baby that wasn’t suitable which is fine we would have been happy to go somewhere else, but she offered the bar between another two other couples which was also not appropriate as I had a pram, she lastly said she could seperate two tables so we could sit at one which was very kind.
We noticed not long after a larger table cleared up, we asked if we were able to move and the man making the coffee said no, he was quite rude.
We bumped into two friends while we were there and they joined us, instead of allowing us to sit at the vacant larger table, they could only provide two chairs for four of us to sit at a two seated table, it was frustrating seeing vacant tables, with no reserve signs sitting there empty while we swished in a tiny table.. the larger table ended up being used.. by only two customers ?
We waited over an hour and a half for our food, my friend waited half an hour for a heated up croissant? My husband was missing elements on his breakfast, and I asked for my eggs well done and they were completely runny and inedible as I’m pregnant and cannot eat runny eggs, the coffee tasted like milk. And overall it was a terrible experience and we probably won’t be returning. I have seen the cafe much busier before so I’m unsure why the service was so poor, and to be told no that we can’t move to the larger table where multiple tables sat empty was...
Read moreCalled on Thursday prior to Mother’s Day the 14th on Sunday to book because there was no availability online. Spoke to a male to book, he “booked” me and my family in at 1:30pm for Mother’s Day Lunch (even spoke for a while about the menu as it was a set menu per person, and there were some allergy/dietary requirements I needed to know about.) He made the booking, said it was all secure and he would see us on Sunday. Didn’t receive a confirmation email or text which was a bit sus, then arrived on Sunday and the woman at the front said they didn’t have our booking at all, and asked me potentially is my name “Antonella”, instead of Elise, because they definitely couldn’t find it. Last minute had to fuss around for a table outside, where we were meant to seat four people, but kept on receiving only 3 sets of plates/cutlery and napkins. No service provided at all unless we come up to the counter, and lack of competency from majority of the staff who are too busy talking behind the counter instead of catering to their customers. Really disappointed as I’ve eaten here previously in the last year and everything was fantastic, think they just needed better preparation prior to Mother’s Day. Will not be...
Read moreI went on Saturday for brunch with a friend. It was quite busy so the guy at the front wrote down our name and said it would be a 15 min wait which we didn't mind. We were patiently waiting right at the front while 2 girls walked in without any booking and got seated right away. Following which another couple walked in, didn't even speak to any of the staff and just sat down at one of the empty tables inside. We had assumed that those tables must have been booked by other people which is why we had been given a waiting time. Every time a staff came up to the waiting area, they wouldn't even look at us and would quickly walk away so we weren't able to ask anything. That guy who wrote our name down didn't come back either. We must've waited for 30mins or so while other people got seated right in front of us. After that we just left because honestly the service was so bad. I've been to a lot of cafes and restaurants in Adelaide and one of the things I like the most is the customer service around here. I was really disappointed with how we were treated and I hope that other customers don't face...
