San churros is one of my favourite places we usually go to Marion and l mostly order online from west lakes anyway we just suddenly decide to have a cup of coffee with churros after shopping ..the guy on counter server politely and we got churros first and coffee after a while that's fine we almost finished churros and coffee was really hot which is a great thing so meanwhile l was waiting coffee to be little cold l asked my husband to bring my another favourite San churros cake..after sometime the while bringing the cake the waitress apologised for chocolate not been poured well on the cake which was not an issue for us,then l looked at the tray it was dirty had built up grime on the it corners and around.. greasy build up marks on the tray, l thought forget it then l took the fork and saw it had white liquid kind of thing on one of the fork tine and had greasy buildup marks with water markes on the fork, then l paid attention on the saucepan l was served with coffee it wasn't quite clean as well but not as bad as cake tray..at least it had no food in it..l was served in a plain ordinary coffee mug not the pot style round San churros mug ,which l never seen anywhere from last 2 years at sanchurros l been always served in pot style before, l then looked at other customers they were served in the pot style mug there were only 4 more customers, maybe l been served specially, everything kind of made sense now. Was served with dark chocolate with my cappuccino instead of milk one maybe it's normal doesn'tbotet me..as long as you been served in clean dishes especially this COVID 19-time l was there with my 5-year-old daughter so l took the dirty tray fork and saucepan to the counter and my exact words were.."Do you expect me to eat with this fork (dirty)or you just discouraging me to come back here" My heart was broken no one deserves to be served in dirty dishes. I am not a kind of person to create an issue so we left the store, we almost step out of the shop the Indian looking guy apologised, l am sorry for his description there was no name batch so excuse me for this, he been nice and offer to change the cake but l was sad and bit broken so l refused and said, it's ok we will come back some other day ..because l didn't want him to feel bad I didn't want to post the review but another girl (staff memberr) was repeating" this is her hair" "This is her hair" to coworker which my husband told me later,l didn't said anything about hair!sweety l just only address the issue about dirty cake tray, dirty fork, the special different from others mug and saucepan everything else is still fine..if you have camera and recording you can hear I also have the tray picture and video which l will upload if can or send video through email the greasy buildup can be seen easily and was not clean.. And if l been judge on my looks so l would like to request please don't judge on person's look if you want to judge..judge on peson's behaviour. I didn't want to create an issue so didn't ask for a refund or change l left my cake there untouched and a mug full of coffee we finished churros before the incident(were gud) The Indian looking guy made me feel little better, in the end, so thank you for that..l appreciate your efforts. l just post the review Cuz l said not a single word about hair lt must be mine while l was taking a tray to counter, l only show concerned about dirty dishes for health and safety especially this covid time germs can spread and especially with child. Also please don't judge anyone I don't know why girl worker was saying it's her hair..l said nothing about hair at all if l wanted to creat issue l would ask replacement or refund or maybe fight for long l just mentioned 2 theree things and left the store..And yes the guy helped me to feel better in the end l appreciate the gesture and effort cuz l was almost about to cry but controlled myself. Thank you stay safe and happy hope it was mistake not done intentionally. please respect everyone and treat equal everyone has heart and...
Read moreSan Churro is one of the pinnacles of desserts in Adelaide, and their West Lakes store is no exception to that.
The food they serve is of quality, and the prices despite being fairly expensive, are still quite fair all things considered.
The biggest downfall of the whole experience primarily at West Lakes, is the service.. from rude staff, long wait times, and not even getting a table, the list doesn’t end there.
Tonight was what tipped the iceberg to finally leave a review on the service, as this is an ongoing issue that has not been resolved in the years it’s been at West Lakes.
Tonight we attended San Churro intending to get a table for 2 at 9:30pm, with the closing time being 10:30, only to be refused seating despite the free tables, and told takeaway only.
This isn’t the end of the world by far, but it’s still quite disappointing. For a company to refuse dine-in to new patrons and still serve the ones seated, and continue to service takeaway and Uber Orders, it just seems quite backwards.
Typically the opposite occurs; with takeaway coming second, this is just disappointing.
Whilst despite when you do get seated, the 25-45 minute wait time on the food and drinks doesn’t add to the positive experience.
I suppose this is something to be cautious of when attending San Churro at night, and it may even be wise to call ahead and check.
To add insult to injury, I’m not the only patron with complaints. With service being a massive downfall of this establishment, and a standard copy and paste response from the owners on any and all negative reviews, it just seems like they well and truly do not care.
I'd like to note additionally after the owners response, it has been 2 days and they still haven't responded to my email. You can not excuse negligent staff and service for COVID. Truly a cop-out to an otherwise great franchise, this location...
Read moreI was looking forward to a dessert filled Saturday night with a friend. We decided on San Churro West Lakes as we believed that it wouldn't be as busy as the city locations. We arrived and there were a few tables left inside so we grabbed a seat and checked out the menu. I decided on a salted caramel volcano cake and a chai latte and my friend ordered tea and churros. So far, so good. She went up to order and after placing my order, the man serving her hurriedly asked 'Is that it?' When she replied 'No', he responded with 'I'm really very busy'. Strike one. Treating paying customers more like a nuisance than the people actually keeping a business afloat and people in a job. My friend and I were pretty confused by his response, but let it go. We got our desserts promptly and the woman who served us was pleasant. My friend enjoyed her churros, but I didn't think much of my lava cake. Strike two. It was definitely not fresh. Quite hard in some places, and therefore really disappointing for the price ($12.95). Flavour-wise it was fine, but I would honestly pay no more than $3 for the cake. The icecream and chocolate drizzle were ok and it was handy when the icecream melted so that I could use it to moisten one very dry cake! The chai latte was nice too, very sweet, but that is what I expected. The staff member who cleared our table once we had finished, much like the woman who brought us our desserts, was pleasant. Because of that and the chai latte, I am giving San Churro 2 stars and not 1. Still disappointing when you pay almost $13 for stale cake. Won't be back for dessert for sure, but maybe for a hot drink. Maybe. Just as long as I am not served by the man who first served us, it...
