Very sad what happened with the fire… the food is generally good, though, the quality varies a bit depending on who makes it.
However, the low star review ratings are correct that the owner treats people (staff and customers) horribly. I have been subjected to the rudeness as a customer on multiple occasions (and you only need to see the OTT response below as an example).
On one occasion when the restaurant was empty and we were waiting for take away, I sat on a chair to wait, and he yelled at me saying now he’d have to wipe the table 😂 Ok mate.
We will be back to buy the excellent yiros, but to be honest, I’d have been more willing to donate to the “go fund me” page the owner now has if he hadn’t treated me like scum on different occasions. It really is an example to be nice to people because you never know when you’ll need their help.
Editing my originally higher review down to one star due to the response below from the owner... showing his true colours yet again, so I am showing how customers simply don't want to be treated like garbage. I wasn't there 5 months ago, not sure where you go that time frame? And there was no waiting area for take away customers when I was there, nor did you point one out. You just swore at me because you had to spend three seconds wiping a table I hadn't even touched in an empty restaurant when you weren't busy. "You were offended. Take a breath" right back at you mate.
All the best in your recovery, and I hope you gain some grace and humility. Your food is good, but it's not good enough to be spoken...
Read moreThe word expensive is not related to one's affordability, it is related to what the average market price is for a particular product. "Expensive definition " commanding a high price and especially one that is not based on intrinsic worth. Your comment is disrespectful, irresponsible and ignorant. Rather than making condescending comments to anyone that criticises your business, you should try taking on board all comments, positive and negative, and take learnings from them. I have purchased product from your business and have chosen not to return , not because of cost but because of poor quality food and service. Your anology with Cheap as Chips is not only a very poor comparison but only confirms your ignorance and how out of touch you really are. I suggest you get a reality check and your delusions of grandeur only show that you are not customer centric at all. Plato- All I really know is the extent of my own ignorance Thanks for your response, it only confirms that you choose to make condescending comments rather than take any learnings. Your high turnover of staff is yet another confirmation of your poor people skills. Naming your business after a philosopher does not make you one. Let's put it into perspective, you are just frying food of average quality that is over priced. I can afford the price but can't stomach the poor quality and service FYI. Plato- Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle Thanks for the laugh, you talking about credibility, what next .....good staff retention, ...
Read moreI'm a regular here and as much as I hate to tell Steve his food is regularly really good. It's not the cheapest place to purchase a yiros but certainly one of the better ones.... and for me the most convenient.
My go to item is the plate of lamb with chips and Greek Salad..... good drop of Tzasiki and hot chilli.
The lunch special Chicken Yiros is really good, I like it when Steve cooks the chicken just a little extra and you get a smokey flavour..... The Pitas are more like pillows than the wafer thin wraps other places dish up... I'm not convinced one way or the other really but if you are used to thin, mix it up and have a taste of Platos.
There are some often overlooked items on the menu the meat free yiros (Green Greek & Haloumi) options in particular deserve a look in - the vegetarian members of my family that have become fans over the years. For a lighter meal I sometimes go for the prawn souvlaki or loukaniko....
Whether its the Greek music playing softly in the background, the delicious food or Steve's philosophical teachings I'm often drawn to this place like a child to the pied piper when lunch time rolls around.... definitely...
