I have been wanting to try the dish here ever since finding out that the original owner of Ricky's moved and operated an entirely new establishment. I would say, this place definitely lives up to the the hype & can easily be the best chicken rice I've tried in Adelaide. Every single components of the dish are lovingly made, from the soft, succulent, flavourful chicken pieces doused in fragrant soy sauce with a hint of garlic and sesame oil, which have been kindly provided an extra bowl of, just in case you need more to pair with the rice with just enough fluffiness in each grain and complement the protein really well. The star of the dish, in my opinion, is the combo of chili sauce, with plenty of kick and tanginess that brighten the dish and the oh-so-fragrant and more-ish ginger sauce (which I am dieing to know the secret mix of). Now the soup, oh the soup ! The soup that often seen as an afterthought in most Southern Chinese cooking is beautifully seasoned chicken broth with a hint of pepper and plenty of leek and fried onions, full of umami and very fragrant. My only slight is, I wish they served more of the chicken soup! For a ten dollars meal, it will be very difficult to find other dish that can beat the quality of the dish. Can't wait to return and try their order dishes such as kolo mee and...
Read moreThe best Hainanese chicken rice in Adelaide I saw a lot of comments condemning the attitude of the staff. But please focus on the food, you pay $30-40 in a high class restaurant for a meal which is not special and can be duplicated everywhere even at your home. They made food with the skills you don't have. To be honest, I never tried others but only Hainanese chicken rice here. The price is definitely worth it and you will never find another in Adelaide for the same authentic taste.
I would rather spend 30-40 here for the chicken rice instead of going to a so-called "great restaurants" in CBD hotel for a meal which is mainly prepared by non-paid...
Read moreMalaysian stall in Churchill Centre food court. The pictures looked so good and inviting. For a reasonable price. But what was served was completely different from the pictures advertised. Misrepresentation much? The crispy pork wasn't even crispy, they were so small I can barely taste any skin on each piece. They were skimming even on their vegetables. Got served the stems, no leaves even. And what's worse is the attitude of the chef. He responded with 'that's what you get for $12.50'. Well if I knew I was going to get this instead of what you initially advertised, I'd happily spend my money elsewhere where'd I'd get something I...
