Must agree with Frank in the previous review. Although the staff were friendly, the food was below standard and the place has no Indian atmosphere whatsoever. My wife and I had tea and ordered the banquet for two. We pretty much concur with what he has written. The butter chicken arrived swimming in a bowl of watery sauce, although the Beef Korma looked ok as did the vegetable dish. Biggest disappointment was the almost total lack of flavour from the dishes. The Korma was more like stew than an Indian dish. The Butter Chicken lacked flavour and the Vegetable bowl had almost no flavour and what flavour was there was not correct for this type of dish. The Naan breads did not look like they were cooked in a Tandoor. The rice was overcooked and clumped together. Certainly not authentic Indian cuisine by any standards and we should have known by the fact that no-one of Indian background was eating there which is always a good sign the food is good. This place serves watered down food with virtually no indian spices used to suit those palates that can't stand any hint of warmth. Indian takeaways at shopping centre foodhalls offer better food for a cheaper price. Waitresses should have hair tied up not hanging down almost to the food. Either we struck a bad night as did Frank, or more likely the positive reviews are by those who have never tasted authentic Indian food. Very disappointed, especially as it was a special occasion for us and it wasn't cheap. Will never go there again. BEWARE you have...
Read moreWe used to go to Ruby Raja all the time for the banquet for two under the previous owners. We went last night and noticed that it was under 'New Management". We were surprised that it was a Saturday night and only half full as under the previous owners you had to book a week ahead on a Saturday night. We ordered the banquet and the entree came out. It was nice but very small. The mains then came out and it was basically one small bowl of rice which was only enough for one person and three small bowls of curry (two meat and one vegetarian) with only a very tiny amount of meat or vegetables that were swimming around in a lot of sauce in each bowl. They were basically just bowls of sauce - (did they think we wouldn't notice the lack of meat or vegetables)? We also had a few pieces of naan bread and one scoop of icecream for dessert. The food was okay but bland and nothing special (with gluggy rice) and definitely not BANQUET size for two people especially when you consider what it used to be under the previous owners. The service was also appalling. We had to wait for ever to get our drinks and a huge wait between each course which was surprising given the fact the place was only half full and there were a lot of waiting staff. My advice is that if you want wonderful tasting Indian food, good value for money and excellent service go elsewhere because you won't...
Read moreBasically I used to work at this restaurant many years ago I knew the owners and the staff when I was employed back then roughly about 10 years ago. The staff used to be fantastic the food was amazing the place was crystal clean we made everyone feel welcome all my guests are welcome. after eating there this evening being the 13/04/2022 the white female staff member (Caitlin) the girl behind the counter is an absolute rude disrespectful staff member very unwelcoming way overpriced she served us for food that we had not even ordered but yet she said but I did repeat the order to you but in the end I thought too To let the pace lie I’ll just pay for the food because she did bring it out to the table. And when we finished we were actually going to order dessert but no one came to clear our table so we decided to just get up and leave. moving forward I would not recommend this place to any of my friends and family. the staff need a good lesson in training for customer service and actually listening to what the customer has ordered and also the table behind me also having issues but I didn’t wanna get involved with them because I have my own issues so 1 star out of five for Ruby Raja on tea tree gully...
