My daughter wanted to go for coffee/brunch recently on a weekend, at a venue she suggested: The Gator Club on Payneham Rd, College Park. She neglected to mention that it served only Vegan dishes until we arrived. Which meant I wasnāt having a coffee, as I prefer dairy milk in coffee⦠we both had a Matcha latte which was prepared with their in-house blend of milk - no dairy here. I also ordered their āfancyā Vegan croissant, which was sautĆ©ed mushrooms, pesto and ānotzarellaā! - Vegan Mozzarella - or (caramelised onion, pesto, sage and thyme mushrooms & feta on a toasted croissant). Well, it was truly delicious. The mushrooms meaty, the ācheeseā, creamy and melty, pesto and herbs flavouring all filling. Yum š I hadnāt held high expectations for a really great, flavoursome dish, but it was! The Matcha lattes were really good too, lighter, with enough Matcha flavour so they werenāt bland. All in all, loved the location, it was cute. Food was really good. Drinks were delish (still would only have a black coffee there, though!) and it was a friendly, alternative vibe going on there - kinda healthy and upbeat, without being unapproachable or exclusive. Iād go again to try other toasties etc. They also stock cute, little gift items which are worth perusing; and a short rack of secondhand clothes. For me this was an event Iād do again. I really enjoyed that āfancyā croissant and latte and I didnāt feel really full afterwards. Just satisfied. Which was good š Worth trying this something different in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGoing to the Gator Club was a relaxing experience.- it is a vegan cafe which has plenty of gluten free options . When my friend and I walked in , we were greeted by a friendly woman that obviously is used to explaining the menu , and she did so with a smile and very pleasant manner . The coffee was lovely - a smooth dark roast that went down very well . I ordered an almond latte and my friend had a dirty chai with almond milk . For our meals , she had the gf banana bread with the berry compote - the only complaint , she said , was that it was fine too fast ! She said the banana bread was very moist and there was plenty of flavour . I ordered the āeggy ā tofu scramble with the mushroom pate and tamari almonds . It was flavoured with shichimi , which is a Japanese spice blend which has a chilli kick . The flavours were an interesting combination that I really enjoyed - the tofu scramble really had the consistency of scrambled eggs , and the mushroom pate added a layer of sweetness to the dish . The gf bread really was lovely and fluffy- it really makes a change from the usual frozen supermarket offerings that are an afterthought at most places. Iām looking forward to coming back next time for a sweet option. It is wonderful to see cafes catering to different dietary requirements- but there would something here for most people...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently visited The Gator Club and had an incredible experience. The cafe is 100% plant-based and offers a wide range of delicious options. I tried the tofu scramble and the big breakfast (the lot), both of which were fantastic. The side of gluten-free banana bread was also amazing, loaded with all sorts of goodies. To top it off, I had a latte made with the cafe's special Gator milk blend (soy, almond and oat milk, I do believe), which was rich and delicious.
One of the great things about The Gator Club is that most of the items on the menu can be made gluten-free or are already gluten-free, making it a great option for those with dietary restrictions. The service was outstanding. The staff was all smiles and had lovely manners, making the dining experience cozy and enjoyable. The decor of the cafe was adorable, and there were even cute goods for sale. The owner and staff went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of.
The cafe was also busy and had a great energy to it. All in all, I would highly recommend The Gator Club to anyone looking for a delicious plant-based meal in a warm and welcoming environment, especially those with gluten-free...
